Made a few passes with the LSX 427 98 Camaro SS
We finally got a little relief from the summer heat with a light cool front this weekend and decided to make a few passes at our local backwoods track. Have not had the car to the track since May earlier this year after getting it running.
Car ran a little quicker with each pass as the evening cooled down from the mid 80s down into the upper 60s. Car was built as a dual purpose vehicle to run reasonably well on motor as well as make some solid nitrous passes when the time comes, will spray it soon with 150-200 shot at first.
Here are the time slips from the 5 motor only passes tonight. Car has more in it, just have to keep tweaking on the tranny tune shift points. Crossing the finish line at only 6000-6100 rpms with the 3:73s.
Best pass was 10.73 @ 127.62 mph on a 1.588 60 ft and 6.88 @ 102.11 mph 1/8th mile. Drove 75 miles round trip , made five 10 sec passes all on 6 gallons of 93 octane pump gas.
Car is a 98 Camaro SS that is full weight plus some. Has a LSX block 427 with Callies rotating assembly, Wiseco pistons, TFS 255 LS3 box stock heads, Cam Motion HR cam, FAST 102mm intake, Nick Williams 102mm TB, Kooks 2" x 3.5" long tubes with 3.5" Y-pipe & 4" exhaust with a Vibrant 4" resonator and 4" Magnaflow SS race muffler. Car is 3850 lbs raceweight.
Drive train is set up more for future Nitrous passes than all out motor runs. Tranny is a GMPP 4L85E & FTI 9.5" nitrous spec 3800 triple disc converter that is pretty tight, but very efficient . Moser 12 bolt rear with Spool & 3:73 gears and MT 275-60-15 Drag Radials.
Suspension is a mixture of BMR & Spohn components. BMR K-member, LCAs, rear adjustable LCAs, Hotchkis weld-in SFCs, Spohn Extreme Torque Arm, BMR extreme Anti-Roll bar, Afco DA coilovers on all four corners.

Thanks guys.
Yeah, I have a set of 26" MT DRs on stock Camaro 16" wheels I am going to try on some more motor passes and see if that will help the 60ft with the tight nitrous converter and also maybe let it rpm higher through the traps on the big end.
I will start working on a nitrous tune also and get ready to turn on the juice here pretty soon. That FTI converter should really earn its keep then. One good thing about it, it drives nice on the street and its really efficient.
Would be interesting to see what the car would do with a 4500-5000 converter and some 4.30 gears on the 28" MTs on an all out motor pass
