Get the trans tune sorted a bit more and you'll be in the 10s

On my latest log my tuner says I'm 6 kpa low at all times. Stays low and doesn't change much.
Car also has a slightly rough idle as well as some surging when cruising with my foot lightly on the gas pedal.

Anyone have any ideas? I think this is what's killing my back half and mph.

Intake manifold leak ?

What dose your tuner think the kpa should be? Is it running at 92/93 @ wot ? How is your intake setup?

IIRC it was 93 on one of the logs. Should be at least 97 supposedly. 98/99 optimal. I did another log the other day and it was up to 96. So I don't know what to think now.

I have the roto fab which is supposed to be the best option right now. But I have the oiled filter which strange enough has been shown to produce less hp on this car. Which wasnt known at the time I ordered. Ive got the dry filter coming. But im not expecting much change. Still got to try it. Intake manifold is stock with porting. Throttle body stock ported.

My best guess now is something with the trans tune. Gonna be a few weeks before I make it back to the track.

That' really good imo . If your kpa is that high on good days that's good. I believe your low numbers are just because of the barometric air pressure on that day. I love these cars!! Ive been checking them out at the dealers....My check book my be taking a big hit soon

You won't regret it. The handling is just as impressive as the acceleration

Deals can be found so don't be too impatient. Do not pay anywhere near msrp IMO

Top Fuel Has no filter LOL Track is typically clean air, its not like your racing in the desert where sand particles are flying around. Removing the filter on the dyno was zero change.

I had an incident at the track with no filter where I picked up a little piece of packing foam that ended up on my maf screen , took a while to figure out why it was down on power lol.

If I were to go filterless on anything again I think I would install a piece of screen in place of the filter just to catch any debris and it would be obvious when you put the filter back in you had sucked up something.

I ran without the filter on my Camaro one night and it did pick up about 1/10th. But I put it back in because the return lane was very dusty and the cars in front of me were kicking up dust. There was a pretty good coat of it on my windshield and I don't want that in my engine. I Might try stopping and putting the filter in after the run but before going down the return road.

Every track down here in FL is all dirt on the return road. Why even wash the car right and I'm thinking of foam covers for my oiled cones. Theres NO room for any dirt in my moral lifters. They even require oil no thicker than 5w-30.

FL is the worst. When i worked in the race team I've seen our 24hr daytona race car heads have actual groves cut in them from the sand that some how made it through the filter. And we would change the filter during the race.

16ss A8 7.2@97/11.2@120/2400DA, bolt on stock converter-img_2459.jpg

Went 11.10@122 tonight with a mamo ported msd intake in 1500 DA.

Gained about a tenth over a ported stocker. It's probably a ten second car in negative DA but just isn't going to happen until the fall. I'm itching to get the stock wheels and tires on right now and enjoy the car. It handles really well. Probably won't run the 1/4 again till the fall.

Not bad I guess for a stock converter near full weight car. I'm happy with it. 6g is the real deal

thanks man

what are your thoughts on me trying out a 26 tire compared to my 28?

as I discussed in the bs thread the 26 is doing something a guy doing 1.5x 60 ft on them stock converter. that's never going to happen with my current setup. my best with several attempts is 1.62 dead hooking.

thinking about selling my mickeys and getting the 26 hoosiers...

I'm not going to stop till I run tens stock converter bolt on lol

My thoughts are i woulda put a 26 on it the first time

The hoosiers dr are bad ***. Likely won't last as long as others but they are very light.
