Did anyone ever make a weight reduction list?
Whats my options when i want to save weight on my car? Other than losing weight my self (270 lbs guy) LOL.
Did anyone try to weigh parts off his car? That info would be really helpful for us. When I reduce the car weight I still want to keep the AC, stereo, daily stuff, etc...
This is what i was thinking for weight reduction on my car: Most of the body parts are from this site http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/932001camaro.htm
Im going to assume the weights of the stock parts... Please feel free to give me a more accurate estimate if u have one.
1. Hood 12lbs Stock one 40lbs Weight savings of 28lbs
2. Front end (Quarter Panels, front bumper)17lbs Stock one 120 lbs Weight savings of 103lbs.
3. Rear hatch 8lbs Stock one 50lbs Weight savings 42 lbs
4. Take the front bumper support out. Weight savings 80 lbs
5. Take the beams out of the doors. Weight savings 40 lbs for both.
6. Install a 8 point roll cage. Addition of 20-30 lbs
7. Change the rear glass with something lighter. Weight savings of 30 lbs.
8. Take the rear seats out. Weight savings of 20 lbs.
9. Change the front seats with two light seats. Weight savings of 40 lbs.
10. Light weight battery. Weight savings 30 lbs.
So far the weight savings are around 443 lbs off the car weight. That should put a normal F-body in the 2900-3000 lbs range. Do u guys think these numbers are realistic?
If anyone did ever weigh the parts of his car please feel free to post it here. Thanks.
