Exclamation

I'm just shocked by some of these bolt ons only numbers, I am SO far behind.
Getting my LS6 intake and ASP pulley installed finally next week, then headers/ORY soon after that hopefully....hope I can bump one of you off that list eventually.

Does stock internals mean "as shipped from GM", or does it mean "stock, as defined by NHRA", which means it could have aftermarket parts that are considered "stock."

The long block must be factory stock (as shipped from GM), not NHRA stock.

The reason I ask is that the NHRA record holder in A/FIA runs low 10s in what is considered a stock Firebird. So there's stock and there's stock.

My Stock Internal car (AKA Bolt on) is by no means stock, but it is the stock long block! Nothing sneaky, 11 sec LS1 cars are a proven formula! As a matter of fact, 11 sec bolt on Formulas are a proven formula too!

Stock as in stock heads, stock cam, stock valve springs. Basically anything that oil touches has to be stock as delivered by GM.

So valve covers can have been removed to repair replace something if need be I take it, providing it's stock/OEM parts (springs/pushrods etc.) that are put back in?
I haven't had to remove my covers at all but in the event that the springs go bad I'll still want to remain within the accepted 'bolt on' rules. It will kill me to actually put in a stock 2000 LS1 spring instead of say an upgraded '01 LS6 spring but I will if I have to.

From my take on the rules, you cannot use LS6 valve springs or upgraded rod bolts either... really sucks.. I'm sure you could get some ponies from LS6 valve springs.. Hell I would have loved to use them for my runs.. I spun my car to about 6400 but I bet I'd get a little more pull with a better valve spring in there.

Congrats Chris!

I'm currently moving. I'll update the list when I get to my new home.

What the guys are doing in NHRA stock classes are very impressive, but they do not meet the rules or spirit of this list.

With that said, I can see a time in the future where this list will no longer get any new listings, as there are getting to be fewer and fewer stock long block cars out there.

I'd like to start a GTO list. I think with the right parts they could get some killer times Stock Internals.

Nooo, please don't ever do away with/stop updating the stock internals/bolt ons only lists and categories, as of right now I plan on remaining stock internals forever.
