Both the cars were impressive guys. Joe..I don't think it bothered sammy...he is a good guy and just likes to race. The two cars are completly different platforms. Sammys car is a 396 bottom end that has been running for a very very long time. He is still on lt4 heads/intake and just swapped over to a solid roller. The same motor in a 94 z28 6 speed..where he use to have it...went 10.9x. Joes motor Ihave no doubt makes more hp. Many more cool tricks there I believe..but have no clue about what is really done to the motor.

This was the best side by side race I saw all weekend. I still like joes idea..and I quote "man..that car would FLY with my motor in it".

sorry for the hijack coach...contrats on the new best. Get the gear change and your gonna be a force to be reconed with by the big dogs...all done with a little 346.

He did a good hard burnout and Madman made him sit on the hood and anchor the front to the ground!

Thats one of those secrets that need to be kept on the down low David The cat's been let out the bag, but some still don't know. An advantage is an advantage......innovation is a good thing. Some don't mind going the extra mile and trying new idea's.....some idea's work and some don't. The one's that try the new and innovative idea's instead of staying the tried and true route usually reep the benifits.

I'd be willing to try that but how could he drive the car and sit on the hood?

Congrats Coach! I havent kept up with your posts lately, but last time I remembered you were running 10.90s. Obviously you made some changes since then, do you mind sharing? From what I knew, you were running the T-Rex, stock heads, stock bottom end, Th350, custom 4800 stall converter, 5.13 gear, and 30" slicks. Was your bottom end at that time completely stock? What has changed to drop you 6 tenths?

I told you all, Madman just chained the front to the ground... and it likes it

No really, No Problem has a fogger setup going down the track, and for $10 a pass they hit you with the 50 shot fogger. Thats why all them Thunder cars are fast all year round...

A new LS1 346 Thunder racing motor(put in July, now 103 passes later). Fresh turbo 350 with a fresh 5,000 stall converter and Madman working his magic.

I still have my cam only motor getting ready for a Thunder Racing freshen up.

What does the Thunder Racing racing motor consist of? Is the displacement still the same? What about the heads and cam? So other than the motor, nothing else changed besides thing being freshened up?

What gear/tire combo are going to now?

Here are the specs on the new motor(105 passes now):
LS6 block
3.905" Diamond forged pistons (2cc valve reliefs)
Oliver 6.125" rods
stock, polished crank
JE 3.905" rings
Federal Mogul rod and main bearings
GM cam bearings
TR ported LS6 oil pump
Comp adjustable timing set

GTP stage 2+ truck heads, milled .050" (2.02/1.57)
Thunder Racing 242/236 .608/.600 104lsa (108 ICL)
Comp "OEM" replacement lifters
TR 7.350" pushrods
stock rockers

Just before the Thunder race we freshened up the tranny and convert. We broke the tranny at the bracket finals in San Antonio.

Sounds like a sweet set up. Are the pistons in there bigger than stock? I always thought that when you put new pistons in that you had to bore the block to the size of the pistons. Is your motor still considered a 346? Why did you get away from the cam only motor? You were running some really good times, in which I think you could have beaten your own best with the better weather coming around. Whats the difference between the LS6 and LS1 block?

Default New Fastest Lt1 Record

Sorry to hurt your feeling joe but you right a rail with a lt1 would be faster. So why put a sticker on your back glass that says "fastest n/a lt1 in the world".Around here if we put something like that on our car we bets be able to back it up. By the way you try and run a 1.76 first gear and see what 60' you run,are put a set of 32x14 slicks and a dana 60 rear end and see what mph you get.And another thing the racing we do here is you go when the light turns green not when the second yellow is just coming on and the winner of the race is the one to cross the finish line first. And the only reason you was even close to me is because you "RED LIGHTED" and you still got be to the end by a real lt1 and a 5 year old motor build by more preformance.I have work for a GM dealer for a while and never seen a T/A come off the truck with the suspensionyou have, and never heard of a factor 7 5/8 to hold to a 1.27 60'. I geuss we make the rules up as we go the title, just think what that 67 camaro would have ran the night you ran your best, with out alchol or nitro on race fuel like everyone else at the track. But I didn't see any titles going out for the fastest lt1 because sam didn't get it. But next year we can
make a title for the fastest lt1 so come on back next year and try again and good luck.
p.s.-- you know I can come up with a 100 excuse and so can you but excuse are like a$$ hole every one has one but you are right it is said when a grow man can't take losing

no bitchin no whining here I've lost before and I'll prolly lose again, put that lt1 in a 4th gen f-body then chant..fact remains I've ran faster than 9.35 like it or not and mph stands like it or not...in a car 400 lbs heavier....tell ya what next time. How bout we scale both of them and then you put in all that ballast and watch the tailights.... -.09 isnt ,much of a red light nice try with the second yellow comment... get off the ego trip already its was a for fun race .I accepted ,you won...so be it ...I didnt get on here making excuses people there saw the race and both cars..You made a notion to post here not me..so who has the issue???? by the way your CHALLENGE FOR NEXT YEAR IS NOTED AND ACCEPTED... make sure you bring ballast and a 10.5" tire..
