Default New Best with issues

Well we went out to HRP last night. Got there as soon as the gates opened, put the slicks on, teched her in and waited for the lanes to open. There were a bunch of radial tire cars and trucks there, so I kind of expected that we might have some hooking problems, so we started the shocks at 2,3 in the front and had the rear tires @ 12.5 psi cold. First pass spun like crazy off the line, my husband was driving and he was all sideways and still managed a 1.52 60' got back in it and then let out before the 1000'. We could tell it was worse than we thought. There was a lighting with ET streets that went 2 cars up in front of him on that pass that did some crazy smokin burnout and was also all over the track. So now we changed the shocks to 1,2 and put the rear tires @ 12.0 cold. So I get out there and take a stab at it. Still spun off the line, but not as bad as my husband did on the first pass, but then right before the traps I hit the limiter so not sure how that effected the 1/4 any if at all.

1.487 - 60' (spinning)
4.398 - 330'
6.880 - 1/8
99.55 - MPH
9.029 - 1000'
10.853 - 1/4
123.00 - MPH (hitting the limiter)

So now we decided to throw the short belt on the car and I tried it again and I thought i would try tapping it into OD before the traps, but still hit the limiter;

1.487 - 60' (spinning)
4.487 - 330'
6.895 - 1/8
99.83 - MPH
9.037 - 1000'
10.856 - 1/4
123.23 - MPH (hitting limiter)

Well, I must say one thing, I seem to keep the car pretty consistent So it looks like the short belt didn't help the times at all on this pass, but the MPH seems better.

I was pissed and ready to go home after this. Car didn't seem like it was ever going to hook, and with it running out of gear at the top end like that what was the point. But my husband said we want to try at it one more time, so I was said fine, but I'm fed up with it. So we sets the shocks down to 0,1 and puts the tires @ 11 psi cold.

Some how he managed to get a new best 60' out of the car still spinning off the line some and I was just like then I was like thinking, YOU BASTARD!! Weird thing is he ALWAYS seems to 60' better than me put I can always trap better than him, but that is probably just the weight difference But anyways here is how it looked;

1.447 - 60'
4.385 - 330'
6.876 - 1/4
99.07 - MPH
9.035 - 1000' (tapped into OD)
10.869 - 1/4
122.03 - MPH

Said he never hit the limiter at the top end like I did though. Seeing the slip from the 60' to the 1/8 mile it looks like he lost some at the top end, he said maybe due to tapping it into OD right around the 1000' Who knows. Well that was it for the nigth, so we changed the wheels and tires back, adjusted everything else back to stock and I drove it back home.

Well I checked the weather for last night and it shows 60-61* temps, 82-88% humidity, and 30.3 pressure. Man if I could ever get this car to hook it should really fly. Looks like its time for some better suspension and some taller tires. I'm still running the stock Tq arm in the stock location, I have HALs up front, but some cheapy 3-way shocks in the rear, and I am currently running 4.10 gears w/26x10-15 ET Drags.

Thanks for reading

oh yeah, the scales weren't working, so not 100% sure on the raceweight, but I would say around 3350 average.

Congrats Lynda & Clint ! You guys need to go to the track when their having an actual race if you can. That will cure the traction problems.

Have you ever tried making the entire run in OD? I don't know if it would make a difference but you could try it. Congrats on the new best.

I noticed you stagger the settings on front. Why do you do this and which side gets the lower setting? Thanks.

Car doesn't launch even. One side will come up higher than the other, and for me that seems to be the left.

If you still drive it on the street a Spohn anti-roll drag bar will cure that Lynda. If it's a track only car I'd go with the Wolf anti-roll drag bar. They will make the car come out nice and even.

Bout damn time
sounds like its time for some 27" drags now.
get you a good torqe arm and youll hook up a lil better, my bmr is working great
also, i was launching all sideways and added the bmr extreme drag sway bar and now it comes out the hole perfectly level.
btw, congrats on the new best, that OD shift definatly killed the mph though.
guess im a have to get back to work on the car again for the sbso since yall are getting a lil to fast for comfort.

I Wouldnt set shocks differently.
The anti sway isnt great for the street,U need to be careful with corners
I'd run an air bag at 25psi and a Spohn 1in non adj sway, that should do the trick

Congrats on the new bests Lynda!

I run a Spohn 25mm rear bar. It has done a good job at leveling my car out. Cool thing is that it bolts in just like the stock swaybar and doesn't add any more interior noise except for an occational poly bushing squeak.

Good to know, I wil definately look into that. I'm not too worried about noise anymore, I would probably never hear a speak
