Default HPE Viagra mod works!!

Well, it sure gets those wheels up anyway. LOL.

We recently got the car back from HPE after going with a whole new set up. We made a lot of changes and boy it feels good. I sold my previous heads and cam set up and went with a HPE heads cam package and forged short block power plant. Chucked also made a wise choice and talked me into going with 1 7/8 Kooks headers. We swapped over to a Mosier 12 bolt w/3.73 gears because the 10 bolt probably would not have held up to the new found power. I also went with the BMR extreme duty sway bar, Mad Man adjustable LCAs and QA1s all the way around. Traction was still an issue so we jumped up to some new Hoosier 28 inch DO5 drag slicks. Traction is still a bit iffy depending on track prep (it just launches HARD!) , but we managed some 1.44 60fts with 10.67 (1/4) and 6.80 (1/8) ETs in +200 DA air trapping 100.31 (1/8) and 124.6 (¼). It has 10.50s in it easily if we could get some good –DA air. Not bad for a 3480# fully loaded very dependable daily driver.

The daily drivability is incredibly nice. The idle quality is sweet and very quiet going through the dual dual Dynomax ultra flow welded muffler, but uncap the duals and it sounds like a pro stocker . I was afraid we would have to give up something to gain this much RWHP/RWTQ and ET NA, but it’s as streetable as ever and it is still driven daily by the happy little lady. The first few WOT passes scared her a bit, but she’s well adapted and HP hungry now.

I have attached a copy of the dyno pull and a rough launch pic.

This is with the stock LS6 intake and Shaner S2 ported TB, Yank PT4200, 12 bolt w/373 gears with a single opened cut-out.

The HPE team really are great to deal with. They provided quality products, workmanship and customer service with a smile. Props to them for being so understanding as I asked a million questions and they were always willing to take the time to answer in detail.

We went from 405 rwhp to 459 rwhp and added a bit of weight that provided durability which provided good piece of mind.

HHMM now we just need a FAST 90mm intake and TB.

Assuming an iron block. (?) How many cubic inches is it, 408?
Pic looks good, and that is awesome power through a rearend, big stall, and your LS6 intake.

No iron block here guys. Thanks for the props. I am very pleased with the whole package. I almost wish I'd tried the 10 bolt just to see the results.

Thanks Ghost for combining the threads. I didn't really know where to post this particular thread. I held off for a while until I could get base ET results to match the dyno #s.

Yeah I had this set up when we were up at Fairmont. The added weight is from the 12 bolt and Extreme anti-roll bar. Johnny law seemed to like the new sound too.LOL. How dangerous could it be with a little lady driving huh?

Coach- I'd have to tree the crap out of you to even get close enough to see your tail lights and you only allow about 3 inches to play with.LOL. No- can- do my BIG Drag racing buddy

TXCAMSS, you live off Fairmont? I think I saw you a week or two ago. I was right beside you at a stop light by Gilleys in a blue T/A with centerlines. Your car was quiet but we could tell it was PLENTY healthy. Maybe I can catch up with you sometime. Maybe at the local car hangout or something. Nice #s BTW! I watched you match race Larry McFarland a while back in his 79 camaro, you busted that azz, I was suprised! I knew his car ran mid to high 10s so I was expecting you to get slaughtered. LOL

Ok, LOL.

It's a mild mannered 383 Stroker

I remember seeing you Vortech. I was seeing if you were going to try to play, but it definitely wasn't the right time or right place. That deep ditch was calling my name.LOL. Track me down if you see me out sometime.

FWIW- The lower graph is the dyno pull before the 12 bolt and FLPs, then we added the 1 7/8 Kooks and the 12 bolt and still gained HP. I was really shocked.

Now if I can just muster up a FAST 90/90

James= Happy Camper

LOL, fairmont is really slick. I think about two stop lights farther up after you were gone I tried it out from a 20 roll and I was ALL over the road in 1st and 2nd. I was thinking the same thing about that ditch. LOL

I am glad you are happy with your set up looks like it launches very hard. I will say I thought it was a little down on power considering it was a 383, but I am not an expert on a lot of the 383's power numbers. What are the specs on the cam. Not flaming so don't get upset remeber it only maters if you are happy with the car I am just asking for my own knowledge. I think I have met you once or twice. Hope to see you out again soon. Just look for the ugly orange car in my sig.

I thought torque was shy for 383, but I have a feeling were not getting the whole truth, C'mon spill the beans and give all the details.

The torque did show to be a little low on paper, but the new 28 inch Hoosier DO5 tires are having trouble believing it. This PT4200 is very deceiving on a dyno. I've never been much on dynos anyway other than for tuning purposes.

244/612 on a 113 LSA.

No secrets here. Sorry.

10.60s in a 3450+ daily driver in bad air on a conservative tune NA? Hell yeah I'm happy with it.

I haven't even scratched the surface of it's potential yet.

Your right about the PTs on the dyno or any other scan device. They seem to freak out the computer, but it never shows at the track. Whats the scoop on the heads? Whats the bore size?
