Hinson car totalled
I am sure someone will have video soon. I live in Memphis and the Hot Rod pump gas drags were here, hisnon didn't run for some reason but did 1 exhibtion run after everyone and something happened at the end of the track and the car smacked the wall doing 130+ then went over and hit the other wall and came to stop a lil later. No word on how the driver is but the car looked bad. I posted here b/c of their supporters, so everyone lets hope and pray the driver is ok and I am sure they will come back bigger and better. Sorry Guys!

I believe they announced that the driver was out of the car and ok but as for the car I can imagine that it is pretty bad. This is the black 93-95 rx7 with a twin turbo ls1 in it. It ran 9.50's Good luck to you Hinson guys recovering from this crash.

I am sorry this happened to him but I bet it's going to cost 2 to 3k to fix the body again ( with a good deal on parts).
What really stinks is all the time they put into this thing last winter to get ready for this event.
when any car gets hit it's a sad day.
I hope the best for those guys.

The left turbo demolished itself on the first run Thursday. That is why the smoke was coming from the exhaust on the start line on the second run. The blades were almost completely missing. I was still very surprised that it went 146 mph on that run.
We were up until 4:00am working on the car and finally discovered the real cause of the smoke. We were all back up at 7:00am pulling both turbos to install the replacements (T76's). No more smoke at the starting line.
The probable cause for the crash was a blown head gasket overpressuring the cooling system. The radiator cap was missing when I arrived at the scene. Things happen very quickly at 140 mph.
Brian and I would like to give a big "Thank You" to the guys who have helped us get this project going:
Ryan, Noah, Travis, Craig, Jason, and anyone else who had a hand in the construction. We also appreciate all the well wishes that we've gotten over the last few months.
