Default Screws in slicks...

I am debating about adding wheel screws in my slicks on my 99 Corvette. I have always relied on them as a cushion to help with driveline breakage. We went all season without a breakage and really love it. Now the car is making enough power to move the slicks 3/4" per launch. We're just debating if the risk is greater than the reward for screws.

Phil are you using stiff sidewall slicks?

If not I say go for it and screw them.

I just did it to my car and first pass I got a blow out. Had to run carmen tires for the rest of the day. Just mounted a fresh set of QTP with a new set of tubes will be giving it another try next week end in Ohio. The tire moves a few inches on me each time I launch. I hope this helps the 60ft with out giving me breakage. I held off for the same reasons

I am using standard 26 x 11.5" ET streets to get my 1.40 - 1.43 60's.

Have any idea why the tires blew? I was thinking about screwing my rims to my tires with my setup. I surely dont want have a blow out on my new set of tires and rims. (29.5x10.5 ET Drags/Bogarts)
