The Wait Is Over......the First All Motor Ls1 In The 8's
#42
Congrats guys, car is just awesome.
Having known you guys for years, it's nice to see the car come together and lay down a RECORD. It's awesome to have another national record held in Chicago!
I took a few shots of the car too, I'll post them up soon.
Anyway, Tom made an interesting comment about the long hard road with the Firehawk. Some of us know that Tom is a member of not only the ARE club, but the APE club. To see him link up with W2W, Billingsley Racing, and BBRC and build the an 8 second LS1 n/a car that went 8.95 off the footbrake is just fantastic. Having talked to Tom over the last few years, it was clear he had the best suspension parts but needed the motor part sorted out.
I think having a car go 1.23 off the footbrake is just amazing. When I saw Tom's second pass at the track, I was thinking it would be a high 9 second because of how low (of an rpm) the car left.
Must be nice to know you have a lot left in the car Tom. Congrats to your whole crew and all the shops who made the car work so good!

it's funny how this guy does this with C5R heads and noone says anything about it other than congrats (and btw, congrats 8s all motor on stock suspension is awesome!!!) but Duke goes 7s or 8s with C5R stuff and EVERYONE blows up on him about it not being an LS1 but a C5R...it's just funny to me but congrats none the less

Congrats... After seening the 9.004 pass, our whole group stuck around the extra couple hours freezing our ***** off just waiting to see the record making pass. It was well worth the wait. Once again, congrats on the entire setup. Hopefuly next year I will get to feel what it's like to make/break a record on my hunt for quickest/fastest nitrous lt1.
