Default Dissapointing night at the track!

Well i ran really crappy...apparently i need the drill mod really bad...everytime i tried to shift fast it was like hitting a brick wall, i just had a spec III and upgraded slave in so i'm guessing i really need to do the drill mod....oh well i'll have that done next time....with that problem i had to granny shift every gear...this cost me prob .4-.5 on each run...well enough with the excuses...

first run of the night was:
2.319
8.628
89.95
12.975
114.98

best 60":2.04 (one of the misshift runs)
best 1/8:8.41
best 1/8 mph:91.15
best 1/4: 12.900
best 1/4 mph: 114.98

all in all i got 6 run, only had two runs w/o missing a shift b/c the stupid clutch line thingy missed 2nd and 3rd several times...first time i've ever missed a gear at the track...but oh well next time i will not have this problem, seems i always have something go wrong!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune at the track. Atleast your in the 12 sec. club though.

Were you at SGMP? Ifso, do they inforce the roll cage rule?

I was at Carolina Dragway

they don't really enforce it there....but you have to be 11.99 to need one there anyways!

There is no way you are losing .4-.5 from having to shift the car slow. Your times seems to match with your mph just fine and it is obvious that your 60' is killing you.

are you kidding me?

hmmm lets see....last night my buddy ran 12.7 @ 108 in his lt1 w/ intake/exhaust/125 shot

and my brother is running 12.3 @108 in his Syclone

114 is a low 12 high 11 sec trap...i know i need to work on the launch...i got it down to a 2.0 last night but couldn't go fast b/c of the shifting i ran a 13.01 on that 2.0 run if i woulda been able to shift that run would been a 12.4ish

Syclone's launch like a bat out of hell. I'm sure your brother's 60' must've been insane. I agree with you on the 2.0 sec. 60'. I believe that should have gotten you a mid 12 sec. pass with some good shifts. Of course some DR's would help you.

I have ET streets...they were hooking so good i was bogging off the line

and he was pulling 1.7 60ft's...it's bone stock besides a slightly bigger turbo and a built tranny!

If you were on ET streets there is no reason, short of your clutch, that your car shouldn't be below a 2.0 sec. 60'. My buddies got them on his car, and they don't take long to heat up. What year is your T/A? I've heard that the 01/02's don't need the drill mod.

it's '00

i wasn't launching as hard as i should have consider the clutch wasn't fully broken in. I'm sure i coulda pulled 1.8's 1.7's or so but didn't wanna hurt my brand new clutch

You could also need an adjustable master cyl. DId you use a shim with the spec? if so , I had to set my peddle closer to the floor with my spec clutch and aluminum flywheel with the shim. Too much peddle travel will make the clutch stick to the floor untill the rpms come down.
The clutch will get better with a few miles on it , then beat teh hell out of it. I launch any where from 6000 -7000 rpm's and the clutch loves me for it.

yes i used the shim, when i do the drill mod i'm giong to turn my stock MC into an adjustable one! hopefully it will work purty good!

It should help. The drill mod is a must and if that does not fix it, set your clutch peddle closer to the floor. Mine had to be so close that I had to readjust the clutch switch so my cruise control would work.

I wouldn't tell him to launch at 6-7K on that fragile 10 bolt, but hey, it'll give him more incentive to get a 12 bolt then
