12.85 @ 117 means way too much power and not enough traction.

Basically the car is hauling in the end to make up for its crappy start.

117mph is a trap speed for about a 11.3x. I didn't read the article, but I assume it was a 6 speed car on street tires. That would explain the fast trap speed and slow E.T.

They have a snap shot of the GTO and it looks like it's getting out of the hole pretty good. Then they have a snap shot of the T/A further down the track and the front end is up about the same.

in the same issue they show the NAWS install on the TA. and in the last paragraph they mention that they took it to the track and toasted the clutch. I'm guessing this was the at the same time they raced the goat.

i think that article was horrible. i mean, i love GMHTP, and have been a subscriber for a few years, but that article sucked. i'm not just upset that the ls1 t/a got beat up on. lol.

you can't to a drag test of fast factory cars on 100+ shot of nitrous with street tires and have it be good for ANYthing. not good promo for the nitrous company, not good for an accurate comparison between the two cars... especially since they didn't even use the same shot. 100 for the goat and 125 for the t/a. the goat was auto right? and then they used a 6spd ta? how much of a non apples to apples test is that?

if they had atleast some decent drag radials they would have seen MUCH more e.t. come out of both cars. a 6spd WS6 running 12.8's on a 125 shot??? give me a break.

Both cars were 6 speeds, they also said that they put a new clutch in the T/A before they took it to the strip. The T/A also had a F.A.S.T. intake and TB and a spec clutch. But you know what gets me is that a couple issure back they had a BONE STOCK 02 Camaro SS run a 12.96 at like 107mph...So you would think that they could get more than a tenth. That's what I have to say about that, not that anyone cares, haha. Later, Tim.

oh okay... i obviously didn't read that article too closely... i was turned off nearly immediately from it. but yea........... they needed to do back to back runs with both cars driven by the same driver and both cars on the same shot to get a good comparison out of it. and on some sticky friggin tires! wtf?!

yeah... ive got that magazine.. horrible article. VERY little information.

Both cars ( drivers ) performed horribly compared do what they should have.
both cars should be in the 11s with those nitrous setups. They really made both cars look bad... especially the WS6.

We ought to all e-mail them about how poor the artical is.

My e-mailo would say, "Hey, just wanted to say thanks for giving all the GTO owners the stupid idea that they are faster than the F-Bodies."

By the way, they said the LS1 GTO was faster than the F-Body too.
