Default Stock 06 Z06 in the 10s?

Has anyone got the Z06 in the 10s with just drag radials yet? I thought I had read about someone running 10s with just a set of sticky tires. Anyone know?

At the LS1Tech race in Bowling Green last year we took a tour of the Corvette plant and I was told there and at the BG drastrip that a Z06 was taken to the track on test-tune the week before and it ran a best of 10.99 w/dragradials.

Was the track downhill? This is one I'd have to see to believe.
STOCK w/ DR's in the 10's? Forgive me for doubting it but I doubt it.

I don't think Torque Manigment will allow it. If TM is disabled it can be done with not a lot of dificulty in cool air with a good track.

My C6Z06 is bone stock. Nothing changed.

I have 33 passes. 8 on stock tires and 25 on DRs, but have yet to run in extremely good conditions, which commonly occur in my area in the Fall.

80% of my DR passes have been under 11.39. And a bunch are under 11.29.

Best pass is 11.204 127.55 at a DA of 1600'. That was on a 60' of 1.84 due to Torque Management. On that pass the 330'-1320' incremental was 6.31.

I've been working on a launch technique to drive around TM. Last time out it yielded one 60' of 1.71. But TM rears it's head on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts too.

So in the Fall, I'll be back at it chipping away at my times, shooting for that elusive 10.99.

The fastest modded C6Z pass is 10.98 by Myhardtop whose car pushes 500+ rwhp and has TM tuned-out (mine's stock at about 450 and has stock tune incl TM); And Myhardtop pass was on stock runflat tires.

I've been following Z06 track times since the beginning (2000).

That is the first "report" of a stock/DR pass at BG or anywhere else, of 10.99. So the "I heard..." or "They said..." doesn't do much without a slip or eye witness account or vid. So if someone has the details on "that 10.99," please post them. Otherwise, I'll assume the story is just that, a story.

If true, though, I'd like to talk with the driver of that pass.

BTW, my times are documented at links in my sig.

Ranger.

Keep in mind these cars are dynoing 450+ to the wheels bone stock. With a car that weighs less than 3200 lbs. it's a matter of traction and getting past the torque management. (and good driving of course)

Wait till the cool fall air gets here. I bet there will be more than 1 or 2 in the tens.

They make the power and they are light. With traction and a decent driver, I could see them running mid 10.9's. Possiblily a 10.8 is everything comes together right.

I'd like to chime in and say that is just f*cking sick to be running low 11's period in a stock car....

I'm speechless.

If you take a look at the Corvette section at dragtimes.com, you'll notice that Vettes running in the 10's typically have 1.5X or better 60'. Because of Torque Management on the stock C6Z, the driver cannot make a hard launch and he the pays the TM toll on the 1-2 and 2-3 also.

So getting into the 10s stock on DRs will take significant finesse rather than the typical hard launch and brutal powershifts.

True, but with the power that the C6 Z06 makes, you could cut a 1.7 and get into the 10's.

The real issue will be whether the guys trying for a 10.xx are telling the truth as to whether they are all stock. PCM modifications would be the ones that would concern me.

Perhaps, I'm not being clear or you haven't read much about TM. On launch TM cuts timing and pulls about 10% of your rwhp and then it happens again on the 1-2 and 2-3. So the 330' is seriously impacted by the TM-toll. The 330' for the C6Z is slower than on my C5Z.

Please clarify if you are implying that my C6Z is not 100% stock and that I am hiding mods.

My experience with the long time racers of C5Z and C6Z who post on CF are honest about their mods and times. Guys that pop up for a few posts and make undocumented, unwitnessed claims, do merit scruntiny.

100% understood over here. I'm not pointing a finger at you, chill out. But a 1.90 you did already, so a 1.8 will happen. I think even a 1.7 once you guys put some miles on these cars and get some -DA air.

Thanks for the clarification.

You might want to try your hand with a car sporting full Torque management.

I've run 1.78 60' on the stock tires and 1.71 on DRs. But the harder the launch the greater the adverse impact of TM on the 330' split. Same for the strength of the shifts.

So with TM present, e.g. a stock tune of the ECM, techniques for maxing the ET involve counterintuitive approaches. Few have the patience to tease out the subtle adjustments that are needed.

For that reason, I don't believe many drivers will succeed in attaining 10s bone-stock on DRs.

Getting a bone stock C5Z to 11.81 on stock tires was much easier than getting the C6Z into the 11.20s on stock tires. And I'm still working on that.

But once that cool air rolls in you should be able to mph your way into the 10's. Maybe we'll see you guys going 130mph on some 1.80's.
