Another headache filled night @ the track
We took the car out tonight to make some soft passes since we really have not been to the track in 6 months or so. Tonight was the first night with the new motor and ended abruptly. First and only pass we did a small burnout and left very soft @ 5k. The pass was motor alone, did a 1.6 60' with big tire pressure, pulled a 4.3 330' short shifting, pulled 3rd gear and about a split second later the car was heading toward the wall. The power steering pulley broke completely off, cut the power steering hose which oil'd down the slicks making them ignite 500-600' out. Coasted to a disappointing 11.6. I think the plastic pulley doesn't like 8k pulls, we shifted 1-2 @ 6500, 2-3 @ 6800, the plan was to shift 7800 on the second run.
Density altitude: 1419' && 1.62 60' and 4.36 330'

Yeah, my spotter said that the car was moving out of the hole pretty good, run was looking great and you see this big plume of smoke 500' out and the brake lights almost disappear as the car shot to the left lane. EVERYONE thought I lost it.
I'm still tickled it went 4.36 on a crappy 60'.

I agree. After seeing 2 cars hit the wall at our track this year (one that blew the engine @ 1000 feet, oiled the slicks and got loose), it's good to hear you saved it. You can always try again with new P/S stuff.
