I am truly sorry my post has gotten you original post off topic.
I truly hope you get your 10's and please be safe doing it. That car you have is really flying on the top end. Just be safe!!! What about putting some type of performance seatbelt harness in it which you may have already done. I guess I'm getting old the father advice came out of me. I will try not to do that ever again. It is your car and you have fun with it.
Again truly sorry!!

Not really sure what your point is!
I think that is why I bought a stall convertor for it to flash when I leave the line. If I did not want it to flash and help the car to move what would be the point.
Leaving at 1,500 RPM's and allowing a convertor to flash to 3,700 RPM's is not a lot different than side stepping a clutch at 3,500 RPM's, if the car can hook. I own both type of cars, you just hope the car does not bog or even worse spin when you side step the clutch while attempting to launch.
My stock convertor allowed the car to sixty foot in the 1.88's.

Congrats Ranger, that's unreal! I understand the "not want to cut it up with a rollbar" decision, but rules are just that. Going 130 mph without safety equipment beyond a regular seat belt and air bags is a little dangerous, and I have seen a few accidents on a track at speeds less than 120 mph when someone hits the wall and the rollbar/cage and 5-point harness did its job. At least NHRA dropped them from 12.00 to 11.50 a few years back.
Good luck invading the 10s.

Appreciate safety concerns. My point is that we're talking an unmodified showroom stock car, on DOT tires. My car has Active Handling to keep the car going in the intended direction.
I can run 11.50 127, and have. But can't run 11.49 127.
Meanwhile a POS heavily modified car with a cage can run 10.00, with a very cusory inspection that fails to find the rusted wheel studs that cause the wheel to separate from the car and cause the accident that takes out the opponent in the other lane.
There are numerous such cars racing these days that I refuse to run against out of safety concerns. But they are cleared by tech. While my stock car is not for lack of a cage.
Oh well. Thank goodness for track rentals.

didn't they lower the cage requirement E.T. back in like 02 or 03 party cause of close to stock cars like cobras with a pulley runnin faster than the rules allowed? could of just been hearsay that someone told me, but i know i heard that somewhere.

Why put a cage in a stock car? I'm hesitant to have a cage in any street car that is a daily driver. My soft head running into tough steel tubing doesn't sound like a good time to me. Is he supposed to drive around with a helmet on all the time? Just takes a small hit to send you into the cage and you have now taken more injury than without one.
BTW kill resale value as well like already mentioned.
Congrats Ranger!

The IHRA lower limit without a cage has been at 11.50 for a long time. The more conservative NHRA dropped it 12.00 to 11.50 in the summer of 2004. For non-competition such as T&T and time trials, each track can set local rules to relax the 11.50; some do, but most don't.

awesome times ranger. And to everybody complaining about the saftey of not having a rollbar. Ill tell you this. In most cars to be NHRA legal, the bars have to meet certain requirments. On a street car a lot of these cages are not very safe. You do not run around on the street with a helmet on. Yet on most cage setups the bars can be very close to your head and definitly close enough to allow contact in a pretty serious impact. (you would be suprised how much u can get flung around).

What are we talking about here. I have a f-body that has 90,000 miles on it that is 320 RWHP NA at best running 7.72's, stock heads & cam with an ls1 intake weighs 3,665 lbs. with a full roll gage even though the times don't warrent it at a track with an elevation of 1015' leaving at 1,500 rpm's that I have less than $13,000 dollars in.
I mean really $47,000 dollars plus for 5/10 of a second reduction. Your car has 427 cuibc inches to my 346 cubic inches. Money is not an issue for me either, I just spend it on other things.
Now if we are talking about your driving skills looks like you are getting the most out of everything that GM provided you for your price.
Now what you should do is add a roll cage to that thing and come to a track knowing that you and your car is a lot safer. This would allow the track owners to enjoy watching you get the best time out of a vehicle that GM has built instead of having to come to you and tell you not to come back.
I think we all should be as safe as possible. I hope you get your 10's before the end of the year good luck.

But what are your 1/4 mile times? Your 1/8 mile times are somewhat comparable due to your converter and good 60' times, but I'd bet you are not running 11s or trapping over 112 mph. This is where the Z06 shines.
Ranger, congrats on the times man. I've been following your progress, keep up the good work and keep us posted (which I'm sure you will) 10s are right around the corner for you.

I'd like to see a mph requirement to go along with the 11.50 rule.
I also don't think the safety rules are perfect. For example, back in 2003 I could run 12.00 with 30+ year-old stock lap belts, but go 11.99 and now a 2-year period 5-point harness and 5-point rollbar become mandatory? Kinda screwy, but I upgraded and don't regret it.
You wanna play you gotta pay.

I'm trying to find the best ET the car can produce in showroom stock form (bone-stock)
(1) on stock tires and
(2) on drag radials.
To that end, I invested passes #29 through #38 in pure R&D experiments involving launch finesses to get around Torque Management and the highly-irritating LS7 clutch.
Those experiments paid off and I've shed a tenth on DRs and nearly a tenth on stock tires. I'm confident another tenth will be shed with more small refinements. So 10s will come on DRs without mods. Stay tuned.
