Congrats Ranger. You seemed so close at the Atco rental a few weeks back. Awesome runs!

If he were to spray 200 I think he would be better off leaving the stock gears in there. He is shifting to 4th gear before the traps as it is now. And he's already on DRs that will hook like slicks. But you're on the right track!!! All he really needs to do now is to spray that bitch!

Wow. I'm very impressed.

This thread was sent to me by a friend and I registered on this forum for the sole purpose of posting how impressed I am by the trap speed and ET you were able obtain from an unmodified vehicle.

I officially want one of these now...

This makes me wonder what the future motors will be capable of... LS8 perhaps? Awesome run Ranger.

Appreciate the many generous words from fellow enthusiasts.

Extracting solid track numbers from this car took experimentation and persistance through many R&D passes. Torque Management and the finicky LS7 clutch mandate some counterintuitive techniques by the driver.

For example, in the LS1/6, the car supports a strong launch. The LS7 will won't. As the launch rpm climbs north of 3600, the 60' and 330' go up not down. An adventure in experimentation and keeping--and studying--a good log book.

I'm in the middle of producing a DVD on the techniques for max acceleration in a 6-speed Corvette. It's intended to help owners get the most from their cars in a straight line, on the street and at the drag strip. Distills what I've learned in making 570 passes in three Corvettes.

Videos of passes (including in-car), audio of the motor under max acceleration and narrated video on techniques.

Hoping it will provide owners an efficient means to access reliable info with audio and video to reinforce the teaching points. That seems the best way to supplement seat-time and compress the learning curve.

My hope is that the DVD project will provide owners a practical and efficient way to quickly learn the techniques for max acceleration. The key ingredients to that process are video and audio of all the discrete elements. The sight and sound fill in the crucial dimensions missing from a word picture on the web.

Ranger, what are your future plans for the C6 Z06? I think alot of people would love to see what you could do with a 150 or 200 shot of nitrous with stock gearing.

Thanks, Rob98LS1.

But I'm a stock guy, modding the driver rather than the car, and along this path documenting the driving techniques for max acceleration.

I leave the mod path to other owners, several of whom are running the bottle(s), dropping to low 10s, one to the high 9s.

There is a good audio file of my 10.85 pass, recorded on digital by a mic just above the exhaust. It gives good insight into fast shifts with some lift. Shift speed was measured at about 200 milliseconds with the 2-3 a bit quicker than that. Audio is here
