Default First time to track

I'm not the happiest but I might have been doing good for the conditons.
Raced at Orlando Speedworld.73% weather, 81%humidity
3 runs:
1st run (no launch, I was nervous as hell for some reason also)
60':1.968
1/8: 8.7@78.22
1/4: 13.864 @ 96.60( let off early)

2nd run:
60':2.048
1/8:8.7@81.67
1/4: 13.594@101.13

3rd run:
60': 2.169
1/8:8.8@81.53
1/4: 13.7@101.39
(got a .091 r/t though, not that it matters)

Car has 84k miles.
To me, these seem kinda low considering I most likely have a hotcam. I also have an auto that I have to shift manually. I had some spinning in the 2nd run and more spinning in the 3rd run. A few of my rocker arms are chipped. for comparions, a 300C SRT8 ran a 13.0 and a GTO ran a 13.8@101. ( not sure if it is the LS1 or the newer GOat, friend raced it and jsut siad it was a GTO.)
Does anyone else think these times suck? And does it seem possible to get better times with the same mods with more eperience, less time. My goal is to get into the 12's but I wanna do it all motor.

Why did you let off on the first run?

You say no launch, but you got your best 60....so whatever you did, it was your best launch

Get yourself a high stall converter next...I dont see that listed on your mods. And are you heating those nittos up REALLY hard? Nittos need a lot of heat to hook.

Yeah, the first run I had did my longest burnout. The second one, I messed up on the burnout. That was one thing my friend was saying, I have to burnout longer. My friends all think I did good and another kid with a LT1 ( ran a 15.2 and a 14) was like Surprised at my time but I guess from looking on this site, I was expecting to do better. I guess I had ot do somewhat good since their was a LS1, on MTs that ran only a 13.8.

I wouldn't be that upset. Seems like the car has more, but it also looks like unless you weren't heating the tires correctly, the traction at Orlando was going downhill as the night progressed. MPH seems a little low IMHO, but I'd be happy with the 1.96 and 2.04 60 foots for a 3.23 auto without a converter swap.

Keep at it!

Derek

mph seems low, I ran last night with my z28 13.26@104.54, only mods are lid and BBK t/b, oh yeah the car has 128k on it. What was the weather like last night? That could be the problem. Good luck.

Yeah I know LS1's are going to trap higher but I really do think the trap speed is pretty low. It did seem pretty humid, not sure how that would affect performance. Since the car has a hotcam, I was shifting at 6000 RPM. Next time, I will try shifting a little bit earlier and later. I'm not so upset about my tiem because even if it seems slow, From what I have seen/heard at the track, It runs better than almost all the Lt1's me and my friends have seen at the track. Most seem to run 14-15's. I was thinking though, since I got a 13.5 at such a low speed, does it mean that my car has alot of torque and well, not so great horsepower?

just wait until you put a stall converter in there... oooh man.

stall and gears are some of the first things I would do if I were to re-do my car from the beginning...

I wasn't trying to tell YOU that LT1s and LS1s were different.

I was talking about the guy who said his 01 Z28 trapped "x" high with only such and such mods. I figured he didnt realize yours was an LT1 and thats why it might not have trapped as high as he had thought it should.

I was also responding to him. I assumed he knew the differences of the engines but maybe he doesn't.
