Dom - No dyno numbers. I am not much of a dyno guy. I WOT tune at the track and idle tune at home.

There is not much drivability difference between the cams. Most of the difference was cold starts. I spend a good bit of time tweaking the idle and drivability tune. With a 4000 stall it is hard to tell any difference down low. Up high the car pulls much harder with the 230 cam.

1badnova496 - I am running a rebuilt stock transmission.

Slimcracker - I have been real lucky with the stock short block.
I really do not beat on it too hard. The engine rarely goes above 6500rpm and I run a conservative AFR of 12.2 to 12.8.

Hey John, have you considered stepping up to a larger cam like I'm running? (Vindicator from Vengeance)

It might turn your car into more of a "race car" than you'd like but I'll bet you'd be happy with the increased performance. Just thought I'd ask.

Smokinstorm - I have thought about going to a larger cam but I would probably have to spin the motor well past 6500 to realize any improvement in ET.
I notice that we run very similar times, what RPM do you shift at and what are the specs of the Vindicator cam you run?

John
I try to shift at 6900 but it's hard w/o hitting the rev limiter that's set at 7000 RPM. I know I'm taking a big risk but I've already talked to Vengeance about raising my rev limiter up to 7100 or 7150 RPM to make the car easier to drive. The one clean pass Joey (11SECSS) made with my car he actually shifted while the car was still prety much riding the shift extension (5900 RPM). It's run quicker and faster at an 1/8th mile track than it did on the 10.76 pass at the 660' mark with a 120 pound heavier driver but the shifts were executed around 6500 at the 1/8th mile track. The Vindicator cam is 240/244 but please call Ron to get all the specifics on it. I didn't ask him or care what they were. I just told them what I expected out of the car and that's what they put in it.

I've noticed a few of us are now running almost the exact same ET and MPH. Pretty cool considering different combos, different tracks, different parts of the country, etc. I guess the LS engines respond well to heads and cam no matter who does it. I won't get the chance to hit a 1/4 mile track again before Fall/Winter but I'll post up my 1/8th mile times so we can all compare. Good luck with the upcoming racing season everyone.
