Default First time at track tonight.

Well, guys, dont laugh at me..Just got back from the track...I have never drag raced at all whatsoever.

Took my '02 bone stock A4 WS.6 to Memphis Motorsports Park tonight.

Made 4 passes. Screwed up on my third run as I punched it a little too fast out of the gate and lost traction, and that kinda rattled my nerves since I have never raced before. But it was cool.

My best was 13.89 at 101mph... bone stock on street tires. More practice I guess. Horrible launches and reaction times....

What rpm are you launching at? You want to hold your brake with your left foot, give the car a little gas (Up to 1200-1500 rpms), and then just roll into the throttle while releasing the brake with your left foot. That should get you a 2.1 sec. 60' easy, and maybe even lower depending on track prep.

Driving an M6 is alot harder for me then an A4 as far as launching is concerned.

In any event, you ran respectable times for your first time out.

not too bad, try and practice your launch alittle bit on the street or soemthing. You can a pull a 2.1-2.0 easy even on street tires. This should net you a better et BTW do you have the 60' and 1/8th mile for your runs?

Not a bad run for a first timer. More practice runs should lower your ETs. I'll be at Memphis next week w/ other LS1ers from my area. I'm going to be looking for mid to low 12s.

Here are the #s from my best run, which was a 13.89

R/T: .819 Keep in mind I had never seen a track in my life until last night
60: 2.224
1/8: 9.051 @ 82.06mph
1/4: 13.892 @ 101.29

My other runs were 14.04 and 14.13

Time to start thinking about mods for stocker I have...

Don t worry my first run last year was only a 14.3 at 100 mph with bad traction (stand in water, the track was also slippy) and a bad converter

60 s were only 2.443

Ehh, you might wanna do some inexpensive free mods. You can remove the back air baffle that GM so conveniently put to disrupt airflow on our WS6's (There are two baffles, one in the front, where the snorkel is, and one large piece of plastic ~ rear baffle behind it~). Remove the rear baffle, but keep the front baffle to keep water out of the air intake.

I'd say do that, the throttle body coolant bypass mod, get an airlid, and a catback, and you should have a decent running car. I have yet to get more track times since I removed the rear baffle. I'm assuming it might shave off a little time, and add a little bit on the top end. My last best was a 13.1 sec. pass at 109mph. Definitely need to learn to row through the gears faster.
