Default Great Lakes FUN

Well tonight despite the hot WX and the 2700 DA I decided to go out to Great Lakes in Union Grove, and I am damn glad I did.

Shortly after I arrived a local/online motoring magazine brought out 4 manufacturer cars I was faster than 3 of them (bmw335i ttI6, audi S5 has a v8, and a g37s nissan), the fourth was a new viper gts. So, it was pretty cool to compare a very mild bolton ls1 to some newer stock cars.

First I ran an older 02? BMW M5, I dont know how many cars I got him by but it was bad. He was an older guy, very nice guy 1st time to the with it and was having some trouble with the clutch...........

Beat the **** out of a stock Mach1 he went 13.7 @103 vs my 13.004@108.8, didn't really get a chance to talk to him.

There were 2 s/c 04-5 gt that wouldn't run me despite my asking........they were low 13's all night.......1 on slicks, too bad would have been fun. They seemed bummed when I told them I only had headers and a cutout, as I was consistently pulling better ets then they were......

Next was a newly made friend in a Stock 00T/A........he was having a lot of trouble hooking up and trapping pretty low.......

I did get to line up with a 93 fbody.....lt1, cam, slicks, prob spraying......that was the only loss of the day. I cooked the tires and coasted to a 17 something

I need some help lowering my 60's I was consistent 2.0's but I wasn't getting too much tire spin. Maybe I am just a ***** b/c I knew I had to drive her home 60 miles.....

Anyways It was a blast even thought I couldn't break into the 12's this time out. 2850 DA didn't help to be sure. I also saw the LS1Tech car, sure does look nice on the outside!

What are you racing for a car, trans and mods? Was the 13.00 at 108 mph your best time?

Check out the Tech side and do a search for launching tips if you need more help.

Yeah, I have read quite a lot on setups. I guess I should have said specifically what techniques could I use to improve the 60's.

To launch I bring it up to 3500-4000 and dump the clutch, It doesnt really spin but it doesnt take off like I feel it should.
I am an M6 with (as stated in post) lid, headers, cutout.
Also, I know I need a plethora of suspension mods and a few spare ten bolts since im an M6.

I ran it last year 12.97- 109- 2.0.

If I could get 1.8x 60's out of her I be happy.

Edit:used the search tool and found some other techniques

What mods do you have?

I own the LS1Tech Pinks Car, at least for another week or so.

Definately check out the drag racing tech side, plenty of topics on M6 launching.

Good luck getting her faster, and I'd suggest a tune in your future for even better performance.

I think you are right there for the weather, in the fall you will be running 12.8@111mph is my guess.

Thanks for the repiles, I ran the DA correction algorithm and it spat out 12.56 @ 112.6
But I think that is a little optimistic.

Anyone want to give me a quick hp tune if I pay for the the credit and a little extra cash? (I am a dreamer i know)

Anyways I need to work on my 60's, but something tells me great lakes isn't the best place in the world as far as track prep goes. Not knock them, still had a great time!

If you are on street tires, 2.dohs are fine.

I cut one 1.988, But I feel the car has more potential than what I drove it to.

Can't complain though, put almost 10 passes on her and no problems

ProStockJohn do you guys go there alot? I heard byron was a better track, what do you think?

Byron is twice as far for me, but it's a very good track.
