Yup. Turley and Brown are both into the 2nd round too. Racing is delayed until tomorrow due to rain. Track is supposed to open around 8:30 and racing will start about an hour later.

Hope work isn't expecting much out of me tomorrow. I'll be watching racing and chatting on YellowBullet all day.

Race has been called. Winners and R/U are decided by fastest ET from the previous round. I've seen several people that are furious b/c of this. The #2 qualifier in Heavy Street had a bye run, so they made an easy pass. They'll get a fraction of what they should've gotten now.

Glad I'm not a race organizer in Orlando right now.

Here's a couple videos

Nice pics, I'm still getting used to walls at Bradenton and Orlando after the years of rails....

Called and money going based on e.t.s? Oh boy I can see this getting VERY ugly....

The walls are a very good thing. Rails tend to send cars into the air. It may be a softer hit into a steel rail, but at least the car won't vault into the air.

Rumor has it, there was some sort of liquid (rain? oil?) on the track when Stubbs went into the wall and Pirez went across the centerline. It was clean until about 150-200' out. You can see Pirez's car track perfect on the back tires, then suddenly swerve to the left. This is almost the exact same spot Masconi got loose and spun it around.

The eliminator brackets are all posted on DRO.

Oh yeah, that Hearse in the pictures above...went into the wall.

As for the payout thing, I could see a lot of people boycotting Orlando next year.

Wow! FLORIDA!

First it was the chads on the voting ballots

Then Florida beat OSU in football and basketball...................

Now, the self proclaimed Sunshine State sends everyone home because it's rained for the past five days.

That really sucks - But I can understand the issue. Most of these guys hold paying full time jobs. They can't afford to miss that much work..

I believe that concrete retaining-walls/jersey-barriers were required at ALL 1/4-mile sanctioned NHRA tracks in '07:
I think that 1/8-mile strips are still-allowed to run with steel guard-rails.

The racers in Pro Street and 10.5 will probably be OK with the way payout was done , both Mobley cars won the money and Annette Summers and Budano won money. In Dragradial and Heavystreet it sucks especially for Mike and Steve , they both won 2nd round against some very fast cars(and had a good chance for one of them to win the event) and get nothing.

The #2 qualifier from HS posts on YellowBullet and he said they got $150 because of the bye run. As #2 qualifier, he would've been in line for $1500. Needless to say, he's not happy.

In all reality, there's no easy way to do this. No matter how you split it, someone's gonna be pissed off with the way it was handled. Hopefully, YWN will have a live feed at US Street Nationals in Bradenton.
