if it was the first time you ever went to the track you have no reason to go worrying about the driver mod. look into the practice mod and the driver mod will take care of itself.
what were your trap speeds? 13.67 is not terribly far off of stock/slightly modded LT1 times, guessing the trap speeds were in the 102-103 range?

I wouldn't be upset on your times either. Everyone has to make their first track laps sooner or later, and each time you return you'll learn more and improve your times. Keep at it and remember it's supposed to be fun to race!

Default This was yesterday..(sunday)

Damn it I missed it!!! I was at Englishtown on Friday the 9th-only TA there My first run was a 13.7 then a 13.5, then a 13.3-when I first took my car to the track. When I ran on Friday my first run was a 13.3, then 13.1 and last-I was soo cold and shivering-screwed up the launch was a 13.2. You'll get better with practice. Did you let some air out of your tires-did you break loose on your launch? Post your whole time slip then these guys can check it out. Glad to see another TA in NJ that goes to Englishtown.

just get yourself back to teh track and practice some more. work on the launch, rpm and clutch release, and see what it nets you. 25psi shoudl be about right for street tires, so no need to worry about that until you are confident enough in your launches to start really fine tuning.
start yourself at about 3k rpm and work it up or down depending on the results. the part you can control is releasing the clutch smooth but quickly, don't jsut dump it and hope for the best.
a few of us from the NJFBOA may be headed to etown wednesday night if you are interested in getting a few more blasts before winter really sets in.

Drop the tire pressure alittle more and heat em up. Dont worry about your times. My first track time netted me a 14.5 at 101mph. So you could have done worse...

No need to worry man!

My first pass in my TA was a 14.1 @ 101mph, that was in the summer of 2001. After a lot of practice I went 12.85 @ 111.22 stock. 1.25 second change with just practice.

Since then I have set numerous bests in my car and other peoples cars, including cars that have been in magazined, both mine and other cars. I am now asked to drive other peoples cars who do not have the experience and can not shift as well.

All it takes is practice! Keep going back to the track, keep making passes and in no time you will be shifting like a pro and you will see your times drop down.

What cbra-klla said about R/T will only apply if you like bracket racing. Most heads up racing is done on a pro tree, and the regular starting sequence will not give you practice for that. You R/T's also play no bearing on your ET's or MPH's. Honestly, when I'm going for a new best in my or any other car, I totally ignore the tree. My 10.41 was done on something like a 2 or 3 second reaction time. If you want a great ET, you go when you're good and ready.

Maybe Ill see you at E-town this Friday Night. Come by and say hello.

I thought this Weds (tomorrow) was the last open track night?? Also when I went on Friday-the 9th, they are being alot more strict on safety at tech inspection and actually checking helmets. I was using my friends old Helmet which has expired, and I can not rent one since thier rentals are only good for 14.0+ passes.

I was there on Sunday too... Ended up runing two 12.2s... One triping the red light by rolling at the line and sitting there 12.2 @ 119 on a 2.4 sixty foot .. The second run I was put into the Import/break down/ oil down lane, and spun through 1st sideways all the way to the limiter woops.. Got a 1.83 sixty foot and 12.2 @ 115.. The other guy was sandbaging and I almost caught him ..

This is a good pic from Atco on Oct 28th

I watched a lot of the races so I was probably watching your runs in person.. Drag racing is addicting there should be a warning somewhere...

I do not intend to go to another Street Wars as a participant though. To many cars breaking.. While I like watching racing to , if I expect to race and pay $30 I want more than one time shot.. Next time will be a nice slow day for me in December at Atco..

Even if you don't have a vid of me post up what you have. Its always fun to watch

Thanks
Ben
