Default Please shoot me...

Although my first time running the car, I ran a 13.8@104 tonight...
5 Reasons why I ran so slow:
1. Inexperience with the car.
2. Spun waaaaaaaay too much (3.73s)
3. Bad R/T and 60' (.21 & 2.22 respectively)
4. I was running against a Pro Street so I was intimidated
5. I was kinda nervous.

One good thing happened though: I whooped up on some Mustang *** by 3 lengths. Then I turned around at the next stoplight, and witnessed a cop (who was no more than 300 yeards behind me) pull over a guy that was driving next to me.

not bad, i plan on going to the track for the first time this summer. not sure what the temp is, but usually the cold has something to do with it. but practice makes perfect... its just another excuse to go to the strip.

Cold makes your car faster and spin tires longer... Good/Bad.

Not bad for your first time out with the car!

FYI, reaction time doesn't affect your ET.

I gotta get my LT1 baselined next month after the track opens. 14.1's would be nice, lol.

Don't sweat it in the least. . . my first time to the track in my car I ranged from 13.47 to 15.40 . . . takes practice and setup. It'll come to you with effort! Unless you're bracket racing, don't worry about who's next to you. It sucks being next to a 9.95 motorcycle and you're still putting along for another 3-count. In the end, what can you do and what DO you do?

Well the guy was in a Fox-Body Rustang. It shook my car pretty bad with it's exhaust, but I was still first off the line. The guy got a .29 R/T... I'm hoping he wasn't trying.

As mentioned above, don't sweat it, we all start somewhere.

Keep practicing. It's fun and you'll figure out what the car likes for best traction and quicker times.

Thats not to bad. I went to the track for the first time with a few bolt ons and street tires. It was bad i had a 2.3-2.6 60ft and my best of the night was 13.3 at 106. I would just spin a lot!

I then went back and i still could not get any traction no matter what i did. So far my best is 13.3 at 109.8 with a 2.3 60ft

My first time out I hit a 2.2 60' then a 2.0' 60 foot on street tires. First run I shortshifted and just did a shakedown run. Second run I missed 3rd and ran a 13.2@113. I swapped over to an LS6 intake and a Pro 5.0 shifter after that. I have not had traction in 2nd gear with the street tires since then. Even though your running easy mode (stalled auto) it was your first time out so you didn't do bad. At least you went. That is more than a lot of people that blow smoke can say.

Yeah, definitely not bad for your first time considering the circumstances. Also, I didn't see it mentioned by another poster, but your R/T has nothing to do with your ET and trap speed. You could sit at the line for 5 seconds and then take off and you'll still get an accurate ET and trap. Just FYI.

Keep practicing!
