everyone says this. i have yet to see any proof that the muffler is so bad. i can post timeslips of "my" car trapping 108-109 with a lid and flowmaster only, pre-pro 5.0 even hah. in central indiana, middle of the summer, da ~2500'. it's not like i'm racing at sub-sea level elevations. full weight car, nothing removed, in all honesty it had extra **** in it at the time.
but since you brought it up:Dyno jet showed 12 rwhp gain on my Nova going from 3" Flowmaster kit with h-pipe and their super 40s to Magnaflow kit with an x-pipe.
9 rwhp gain on a buddies 530 rwhp Nova on a 3 inch exhaust system just swapping Flowmaster super 40s to Magnaflow mufflers with no other changes.
1/2 tenth quicker on my Formula, but no dyno test before we also did headers and off-road y.
Also have a few others cars that have picked up a tenth if not more swapping Flowmaster mufflers for Magnaflows. Quieter with the Magnaflows too.
Just my experience.
