Default From the dyno to the track.

Backround: about 2.5 years ago I had dynatech LT's, ORY, Borla cat-back, SLP lid with ram air, TB bypass, 3.73 gears in the stock rear, and a SPEC 3 clutch. The car made 344 rwhp and 356 rwtq.

I then installed a FAST 78 mm throttle body and a cam (230/236, .551/.551 112LSA) The car made 420 rwhp and 374 rwtq. My best pass was a 12.17 @ 117.9 mph, but my driving wasn't the greatest (no power shifting).

I then installed a Moser 12-bolt with 4.10's, a March Crank Pulley, and Royal Purple Fluids. I was able to whittle my times down to a best of 11.96 @ 117.21 mph.

Recently I purchased a nitrous kit to install over the winter. I also installed chrome 17x9 TTM wheels, a heavy duty driveshaft, and put the high flow cats back on.

At this point I had no idea what I was making for power, so I took it back for a retune and dyno testing. The car baselined 389/355. They pulled some timing and readjusted the air fuel for the cats. This was done on the same dyno as previous. I ended up with 400 rwhp and 363 rwtq. Not too bad for all the power robbing changes I made. The graph will be posted in the next day or two.

Today I went to Lebanon Valley Dragway. The weather was good (around 60-65 degrees at the warmest) with little wind. I ran a best of a 12.07 @ 116.5 mph and later trapped 117.4 mph and 117.3 mph back to back in the warmest part of the way. I was having big traction problems though and think it was from going from 16 inch DR's to 17 in DR's. I'll be getting some slicks over the winter to go with the N2O kit.

Nice times, Ron. I can not believe how ridiculously close our cars are in every way with totally different setups. Let's compare current setups:

Me vs You:
2002 Z28 M6 - 2002 Z28 M6
400/367 - 400/363 (same dyno
117.4 mph - 117.4 mph
11.89 - 12.0 yesterday (11.96 old number but your car clearly has it in it again)

That's freakin scary. I do hold the title now, though.

I'd be happy as hell with those numbers you're putting down and running considering you're through the heavy drivetrain (12-bolt, driveshaft, 4.10s, and chrome 17s), cam-only, and on a nitrous tune. That's ridiculous.

Yeah, the only difference in our cars at the track is the tires (ie 60' times). Hopefully you beating my record will give me the motivation to get on with the modding!

Hopefully, if that blue car doesn't distract you too much from the one that actually matters!

Post up the graph in here, too. Put it in your original post.

Lol, Yea, your car certainly responded well with that cam and w/ more weight you managed a damn near same MPH.

I was just happy I wasnt too far off the pace.

I was looking at my tires, and they almost look like they are doing the same thing that the Nitto's on my dad's GTO did. I wonder if they are too old and are just dried out.

If I were you, I'd go with new Nittos for the street and just man up to some 15" wheels and straight up slicks for the track like Aaron was running the other day. Don't waste your time with tires like I did. Unless you decide to go with the ET Street Radials, in which case you're going to be much happier than you are with the Nittos, but not completely happy I bet. Although, now that I think about it, your longer first gear will probably help you get better traction than me and therefore better 60' times. Perhaps that's what's causing me to spin so bad.
