Default CAM ONLY in +800ft DA...

Made a couple runs last night at the track...+800DA

All were in the 11.teens with a best of

11.13 at 121mph with a 1.55 60ft

having some tractions problems...i can only get it to hook with about 65 lbs in the rear well...looks like i should have gone with the adjustable rear drag bar instead of the cheaper 1" solid spohn sway bar...

the car bites really hard then unloads a couple feet out...looks like the rear is still torquing over hard even with the rear air bar, and sway bar...new front shock didnt seem to help much either

still pretty happy with the times for the 60ft...just gotta get the car tuned in for the -DA days coming soon...i really dont wanna run with an extra 65lbs in the rear well although it did get me a 10.95

anyone hear of lowering the front of the tq arm another notch to help with this unloading problem

videos

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GneBJoskNzs

kinda hard to see it unload so you might have to click on the high quality and full screen...

Yeah... It seems like you and haulinhawk are dominating in the cam-only area. Chris, do you think that the 85mm lid and MAF helped out enough to purchase? How many passes do you have recorded? It must be nice when your father races too! lol

yup it sure is that is why i got it before i did my cam and got it fully tuned...you are going to need to tune it after the 85mm maf to get everything out of it...85mm lid/maf setup gave me around 10rwhp over an afermarket lid and stock descreened maf...

put it this way i got 70rwhp from my cam & 85mm setup... i would guess the cam added about 55-60 at most...

plus it is around 200 for 10rwhp....

truck maf 30 on ebay
5-3 pin connector 20 pace or ftra
85mm lid 130 on ftra

so 180 total...

yeah my dads car runs pretty good too i have some videos of us racing each other too...he usually pulls me about 3-4 cars...

You're not a fan of the SY3500 huh? I'm partial to the converter, it's served me well. But, it may not be my best choice by my weak *** 60's lately.

I just drive my car so much that I'm afraid of hurting the drivability with too loose of a verter.

any yank converter is good, i mean i got my ss3600 in my stock interal car to pull 1.54 with amazing DA...usually was high 1.5s...that 3500 should have more in it than that...and when i ran those 60ft for suspension i had sfc, rear lca's, and a rear air bag in the passenger spring, everything else was stock...

I've got gobs of suspension, 3.73's, and 275/60-15 MT drag radials. By all means, it should launch hard - but it doesn't.

The SY does only have a 1.63 STR though, it doesn't hit very hard. Some people feel I should drop back to a 275/50-15, but I know it won't make it through the traps on a 26" tire.

oh wow yeah that is a really low str...my ss3600 had a 2.2 str...yeah i would definitely go back to the 275/50s that is what i am running now...will give you at least 1mph if not more...

why dont you think it will make it through the traps...i am crossing at like 4800 with my 3.23s...i know i know i am leaving some on the table...

You think you would pick up any time if you had a PT4000?

I raced the car in June, it was hot as hell. I trapped 121 & change, had a 26" tire on the car. I was about 6500 RPM in the lights. I start dropping off power fast after 6500, tiny cam. I expect to pick up a few MPH, (2.5 - 3.5) this winter, that would put me in the "twilight zone" where the car is dropping power and not pulling as hard on a 26" tire. I was hoping on the 28's I would be around 6300 crossing the traps this winter.

I posted a thread about my sluggish 60 foots, and Yank responded. He said I needed to foot brake it to about 3000 RPM. Around 2000-2200 it starts to push through the lights. Without a transbrake, I don't see me holding that kind of RPM at the line.

A 28" tire is to much for 3.73's to turn without a loose hard hitting stall. Also how are you checking the trap RPM's? My car with 28" tire, Yank 4800 stall, and 4.30's was trapping 121-123 mph @ 6600-6700 rpm.

Not the most accurate method, on the 26" tires my factory tach said 6500 RPM when I crossed the stripe. It read 5900 this last time out on the 28's.

I know that on the 26" tires, the slip read 121.26 MPH, and the car felt like it was laying down right after the stripe. With the 28" tires, it felt lazy. The car left like an animal on 26" tires rolling into it, on the 28's - I stood on it and it felt like I had the e-brake on. I went 1.699 spinning on the 26's, and a 1.704 on the 28's - felt like it bogged. It even looks way lazier on video, less weight transfer.

yeah i would consider that not accurate at all...put it this way my dad shifts his h/c/i car at 6900...throughout his whole run the tach stays pegged at 7K...it never drops ever for the shifts...

you are trapping way lower than the tach is reading

Well, by the math... 121.26 MPH * 336 * 3.73 / 26 = about 5845 RPM. But that's not taking some converter slip into consideration. I'd say I have about 400 RPM or so of slip. And correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't the 1/4 mile trap speed an average of your speeds over the last 320 feet?

Sorry for jacking your thread man, just trying to learn something about my car if possible and make it work better at the track. It runs about what I thought it did - but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping it was faster.

Your car is definately doing work, makes my h/c/i car seem kind of slow.
