Default Long or short torque arm

Ordered a Midwest Chassis fab 9" just not sure on the long or short arm just yet. When the car is rolling again we plan on 600-625rwhp with a solid roller N/A setup with an M6. I want to be able to pull the wheel alittle but not dangerously on the rear bumper. I have thought of getting the shorter arm and worst case use a wheelie bar setup. Eric at Midwest recommended the long arm with my power level due to wheel stands being stupid but a search has shown alot of guys with more power than I plan on running are using the short arm. Just need a little direction on this aspect of my build. thanks for your input.

I have a long TA with 530+ rwhp (th350 unlocked) and she wheelies every pass. I have wheelie bars as well as limiters.

The longer bar will have a softer initial hit and have the tendency to wheelie more than the shorter bar because it will be trying to transfer more weight. The shorter bar will hit the tire harder initially and on each gear shift which is probably what will work the best with a stick car. Madman's TA is definitely the cadillac of the chassis mounts because you have adjustment points to fine tune how hard you want to hit the tire.

Mine isn't any noiser with a chassis mount than it was with the tranny mount. My exhaust isn't overly loud so I'd hear it.

I would agree with the short mount being the better bar for your application. We offer a few different options which can be found here

http://www.bmrfabrication.com/F-bodySuspension.htm

The part # I would recommend would be the TPU001. The TPU001 has proven itself well into the 9 second zone.

Short arms may work in the short term, but if you put some power to the tires and everything is working good, the car will get put on the bumper.

It will happen, I will promise you.

If you dont whack it with nitrous, then I would wager you will fine, even travel limiters will help.

I have personally video taped a 01 t/a 3300ish race weight, 402 LS2 w/ 150 hp plate kit, th400 on a 28" tall slick get put on the bumper and he ran a stock length BMR tq arm. Had it been short, it would have done it alot sooner and much more un expected.

The driver managed to stab the gas and due to using a stock K member saved it. He was lucky. Cars like the Kerminator was not so lucky.

Thanks guys. On the noise issue it is my understanding that it is not the torque arm that causes the noise it is the one piece solid lowers that cause this?? Either way the moderate noise if enev an issue would be fine. I am leaning more torwards the short arm at this point in time.
