Default Did a Search... (Tire Pressure)

I'm hitting the track tonight. Air Temps are forecast to be about 50* when I get there and down to 40* by the end of the night. What's a good tire pressure to start at with street tires (275/40R17)? 20 psi? And burnout time with this cold weather.. 1-2 seconds? I've never raced in the cold with the Camaro, so this'll be a slightly new thing for me.

Thanks.

Okay and the 15 psi helps you hook real nice in the cold? I figure I'm starting at 20 and if I can't hook, going down 1-2 psi at a time.

Are we talking about a drag radial or a regular radial tire? DR I agree with 15psi but a regular radial I'd go no lower than 25ish. -Mark

If I'm reading your sig correctly you have a bolt on LT1? At your power level I'd start at 18-19psi and adjust from there. Just make sure you do a good 5-7 sec. burnout to get some heat in the tires. My car is an m6 making 400+ rwhp and it hooks well at around 16-17psi.
