Default Will it hook w/650whp?

Hey guys I just blew my engine and I am about to drop another one in in a few months and I have a question. I was making 550whp before with a sprayed 350 and the car hooked wonderfully, it could hook from any roll and pretty good from a dig on the bottle. The crazy part is i am running 255/60/16sumitumo htr-z tires and stock 1le suspension w/drag shocks in the back. I never understood why it didnt spin and neither did anyone else, I will now have another 100whp and a better powerband. So should I try the same setup or go for some aftermarket susp and drag radials? This is in a 3100lb 3rd gen and I will be taking about 70lbs off the front of the car with my new setup so that should help. Has anyone ever hooked like that with a 255 street tire and that much power?
Thanks-Jeremy

I'm no expert but I'd just throw some better tire at it and hope that's enough. Sounds like the suspension's doing its job at the very least.

trial n error,, get the motor in and go from there. I would say the first two things on the list would be some DRs and a torque arm.

Thats called a slipping trans. If that much power is getting to the ground, Drag radials shouldnt be holding it, UNLESS your spraying at 60mph or quicker, from the hole it should not be hooking.

No slipping trana, its a t-56! I didn't spray out of the hole and my best 60ft was a 1.69, spraying out of the hole would surely kill the tires. Most of my runs were on the street and from rolls so that's my main concern at this point.

Well Roll races take 85% of driving ability and suspension out of the equation. When a mass is in motion, the tire does not need to be as sticky to keep it from spinning while in motion.

Since the car is extemely LIGHT that is also helping and to be honest, if it is putting down the power it says it is, you need to see what RPM your starting the roll race and trace it back to the dyno graph, then that is what is telling you the power to the rear wheel.

Also factor in what gear the trans is in to learn about the OVERALL ratio given the Trans Gear X Rear Gear and multiply that # by the hp/tq at the given start point and that will show how much gearing will factor.

Not calling you a liar but I would love to see you cut a 1.69 60ft with a T56 on street tires with 550rwhp.

I feel the same, given my car on just making 400 hp.... but for him, its light and his car is probably NOT 60' footing like it should, maybe with a real tire and suspension he could be doing 1.5's

some tracks shorten there 60' timers to make it look like "the house of hook"

if something like my 60' looks odd at a track i dont run at i always measure the 60' timers... you'd be suprised how many tracks screw with there 60' timers....

I usually cut 1.8-1.9s but on certain days it hooks like crazy, I have to clutch it out of the hole but after 10-15mph i can go full throttle with no spin and no squatting. On certain occassions i have sprayed in 1st and hooked too, Im just gonna go with it and see if it hooks. Maybe ill set some kind of record or something...

You say on your Fquick page that you haven't dynoed the car yet so how do you know it makes 550whp? Again, not trying to be a dick, but a lot of things don't add up.

You need to work on that 60ft badly. 1.69 is really bad for 550 rwhp. For example I only have 451 rwhp and I am not happy with 1.43 60 ft(the car is still squatting and I still need to tune the suspention)
get some slicks on that thing and hit it hard out of the hole

How much are you spraying? I'm guessing your car makes about 400 N/A to the ground and then you are spraying it. Is the new motor going to be more motor or more spray? If you aren't spraying out of the hole then your numbers look about right IMO and if you are just upping the spray you should be ok with your current setup as well.

Yeah my fquick page is just there mainly for pics and friends, i dont update it much. Car wasnt dyno'd on spray but did put down low 400s at the wheels on motor, never was able to get a consistent dyno due to some timing issues, best was 432whp on motor i believe. I can only assume what the n20 numbers were, i was on a 150shot so i figure with my half *** tuning skills i made about 400whp on a n20 tune and then just add 150hp?? I would post up the charts but im away from home right now, theres some vids of my car out there though.

Stock 10 bolt I will run a gear and some drs when i get a built rear....then the 1.3s and 1.4s will come.

^We will see my friend, I wanna be the first person to run 10s on street tires in a f-body I ran a 7.6 on these tires with no spray. I will prolly just break down and buy a rear and some drs, thats kind of a pointless goal.
