Default installing rollbar?s

I just ordered a 6-point 4130 Cromoly weld-in roll bar that goes over the rear seat.
Is the tank really necessary to remove while installing or can it be left in. Does the rear seats have to be removed for install and then put back in after or can it just be left be left in during install. Does the driver and passenger seat have to come out. And is there anything else that has to come out?

Gotta drop the tank, and everything must come out..... BTW, do you have a tig welder, or someone who does must install it, you cant mig weld a 4130 rollbar.....

Got another question. I'm wanting to paint my rollbar black. Question is what is the best and easiest way to do this? should I paint all the bars as they lay in pieces before install/welding them in my car or should I wait and paint it after its been installed and all in one piece? And if I should paint it before it goes in, are there areas I should leave unpainted until its completly welded in?

I would wait to paint it, if you paint where the contacts for welding will be you wont have a good serfice to weld the bars together, oh and whatever you dont pull out make sure to cover the rest with an old blanket or sumthin

Leave it unpainted until you get it installed. Yes you have to remove the fuel tank also. You can mig the steel plates that go to the floor board, but basically any chromoly welds have to be TIG'd

What kind of paint do you guys recommend and brushed on or sprayed or does it even matter. Sorry for all the questions I'm a first timer at this whole thing.

I used VHT chassis paint. Nice shine to it, and it's holding up pretty well.

When we put the bar in Triggers car we were going to leave the tank in. After pulling a rubber grommet out, and realized the trank was right up to the body, we decided not to take any chances, and drop it. Its only two strap bolts, you don't have to completely remove it, we just dropped the straps so the tank would come down a few inches for safety. Took maybe 5 minutes.

Use POR-15 paint and brush it on with a foam brush. You will not have to worry about getting over spray all over your car! Leave it unpainted intill it is completly welded in the car..

I usually put to 2 thin coats of por-15 an let it dry over night.

POR-15® is a high-tech, high performance rust-preventive coating designed for application directly on rusted or seasoned metal surfaces. It dries to an incredible rock-hard, non-porous finish that won't chip, crack, or peel, and it prevents rust from recurring by protecting metal from further exposure to moisture.

Use it to coat rusty frames, floor pans, farm equipment, marine equipment, or even a heavily corroded battery tray.

POR-15® is sensitive to UV light (sun) and must be topcoated for prolonged exposure to sunlight.
Topcoating is not required for areas not exposed to sunlight.

When I did mine, I notched all the tubing while tacking it into place. Once I was satisfied with the fit, I pulled it all apart and dropped it off at an auto body shop. They wrapped 2" masking tape around the ends of the tubes and the areas of the main hoop that needed the tubes welded to it. Then painted it in my choice of color.

After that, I welded everything in and brought the car to the paint shop where they touched everything up and painted my welds. Worked out great. Especially since I wanted a metallic color that wasnt going to work if I had tried to brush it on.

I love por15. I just ordered another 6 pack. I used a lot of it on my drag car. And in my body shop.
