Fabric does matter, a lot in fact...

Proban is basically treated cotton. You wash it, the flame retardant begins to wash out. It is cheap and gets the job done, but does not last (unless you like to smell like a bad burrito or choose to do the Tia Juana shower with Febreeze).

Nomex is inherently flame retardant, so wash after wash it will be fine.

I bought a 3 layer Gforce driving suit, I am not 100% what the sif ratign is on it but it was one higher then I had to have for a 9 second nitrous car.

Wasn't that expensive, and they're good for 10 years, IMO, buy the nomex and buy one that's better then you need rating wise, better to have then to not have IMO.

impact, stroud, gforce, simpson, RCI, RJS all make quality driving suits/wear. I don't think that any of them are better/worse then the others, alot has to do with personal preferance, as long as theSFI rating si as good or better then you need I don't think you can go wrong.
