Default Torque Arm Pivot Plates

Back when I bought my UMI torque arm it came with the standard brackets that mount the nose of the TA to the tunnel brace. This is what is shown in the install pictures in the link below. Now they come with these new pivot plates that allow you to adjust the "instant center." My question is what is the theory on how these plates work to increase your 60ft times and should I buy a set.

More adjustability is better. I need to get a set of plates like that, but want more than two adjustment holes for the tq arm. I have been fighting my IC to get my car to hook. '09 is the year to get it dialed in.

How do you know when you need to move the front of the torque arm up?

Search for "Instant Center" on here. You will find some good info. Your instant center can determine whether you put it on the bumper, lift the front wheels a couple of inches, or spin like there's no tomorrow.

Thanks. I did look at the stickies up top. Looks like the higher you set your IC the better. However I got confused it sounded like they were mixing up four link talk with stock suspension setups. Basically on an fbody car with a tunnel mount TA the IC is where the TA mounts to the tunnel brace correct?

All I would have to do is buy these plates and install them on my car and hopefully I'll not spin the tires. I'm also waiting on this digital angle finder so I can set my pinion angle correctly. I started getting some vibrations at highway speeds for the first time ever so I want to make sure nothing got out of sync.

just placed my order for these. they were just a tad of $22 with shipping and handling. wont install them until I get my bmr xtreme duty drag bar.

So I installed my pivot plates finally. below is the pic. basically it raised the mounting point to the torque arm about an inch. the torque arm is silent no clunks or vibrations.



I also adjusted the pinion angle on the car but had an issue. my moser's rear cover fill plug hits the upper panhard bar support. I'm either going to have to cut a piece of the support off or by the relocation kit. I'd like to notch the support slightly to save the 200 the relocation kit costs but I'm not sure if that will mess with the structural integrity. right now i have my pinion angle at -.8 but on bumps you hear the banging. the torque arm is silent though no clunks or vibrations.
