mini tubs
Ive got a thread in Wheels and Tires but no one has been able to answer my question. How many of you guys have mini tubs? I love the 09 zr1 wheels and am interested in purchasing them. The rears are 20x12 and Im assuming I would need to mini tub an 02 f body but Im not 100% sure, any help would be great. THANKS

Yes you will have to minitub. Also i would need to know the back space because most likely the factory length rear will have to be shortened.

In order to get the maximum amount of clearance possible, we cut the upper spring perch out and then weld in the wolfe upper spring adjusters. You have to use an after market spring w/ a 2 1/2" I.D. This gives you the needed spring clearance to allow the biggest tire possible.

That is what I have under mine, now the lower control arms are the next thing in the way. I have tubular arms spaced all the way inboard, but they would rub them before the inner wall of the tubs. 10.5X30 Hoosiers on 12" wheels are about as wide as will tuck under there with nothing outside the fenders.

Can't see pics at work from photobucket
I mean instead of buying a new spring and all I would just get a coil over.
I think pretty soon a lot of us are going to have the same problem that a lof of big name drag radial guys are having. It is starting to become rather hard to run the big DR tires and all the saftey stuff and still have some stuff clear with factory mounting points, IE LCA's.
I know on the 90's stangs you have to move the LCA's I think it is to get a floater to clear.
Wonder if you have to do the same on a 82+ F-bod.
Sorry, little off subject.

Switch to a coil over and move the LCA to the outside of the mount still "utilizing" the stock location lol. You may need to fab a new mount on the inside of the LCA but it will work haha

So ya use the inner stock control mounting point and move the arm to the inside of that, and add a plate to the other side. Control arm is still mounted to the stock mount what's the big deal?
If you want to run a steam roller tire, you need to make room!
My next project I want to put 33x10.5w's on it like an outlaw car. Not because it's gonna make enough power, but because someday when I am ready to move on to another project like I am now, it will be alot easier to sell.
