Default Dump or not to dump that is the qeustion

I just wanted to know what all you M6 guys do to launch. I was always told when I got my slicks I should just dump it. But lately I've been hearing guys saying they're doing a "controled dump" The say not to totally take your foot off the clutch but to kind of slip in a way. Just dumping it basically with your foot on the clutch. I just need to get some advice to get my 60 ft. down. The best I've cut so far is a 1.69.

I have an A4 car but I have driven a couple of 6 speed cars and I got the best results by dumping it. Being that you have a 12 bolt and a good clutch you shouldn't have any problems. Or not that I would know of.

Well I just spin my *** off all the time. Even when I got my 1.69 I was spinning. I just don't see how these H/C M6's are cutting low 1.50's. I just want o be able to cut some mid to low 1.60's consistently.

When I was cam-only (354 RWHP), I would bounce it off the rev limiter and dump (on 28" ET Drags). Pretty consistent 1.63-1.65 60's that way.

If you have faith in your clutch, driveshaft, and rear end... Why not.

if you plan to dump past 4k w/ anything other than street tires, have a solid drive line, if everythings all good, 6k dump w/slicks, you'll see those 1.5's

Your running quick time pro tires correct(noticing the qtp in your sig)? What size?

Like Camaroholis said..... a 28" full slick is probably what its gunna take. Thats why you go with the steeper gear, so you can use more tire... correct?

Yea they are 27" QTP's and I have 4:30 gears. If I bounced off my rev limiter and dumped it I would probably do a 180. Not really but I would spin my *** off. I dump it at 4 grand now and I usually spin. Also I run 15 psi in my ties. These are the same ties that Moose runs and he gets low 1.50's on a regular basis.

I dumped it at 6800 when I ran those 27" QTPs with 4.30 gears. It would dead hook most of the time and cut mid 1.5 60 foots. The lowest I ever ran them was 11 psi, but usually kept them at 14 or so. Maybe you just need a new set? Do you drive them on the street much? When I started to use mine on the street, they lost their bite.

I only have like 12 passes on them. But I have put a few miles on them driving to the track. I don't think thats really the problem. I just think my car just hates me.

I usually do a 3500 to 4k dump. This wekeend I did a 5k dump. I knocked off .13 off my best time.

The best thing made for the M6'ers is Harlon's 2-step. You can set it at any RPM you want without hitting the rev-limiter. I set mine at 5800 rpm, dump on last yellow, on the 100 shot, 1.50-1.55 consistently (28" ET Drags); on the engine only 1.64-1.66 again dumped at 5800 rpm's (26" ET Drags).
