i was under the impression you can only tig moly.. I could be wrong, Never welded it. But according to the 09 rule book it has to be tigged.

i have mig welded cm tubing to mild steel plate & it worked perfect for projects.

not roll cages.

 

MIG welding heats the metal too fast causing internal stress making it more brittle and more likely to crack. although it is not allowed to MIG weld a chromoly cage it is my understanding that you can MIG weld small projects safely by preheating the area first.
