Default lexan install/stock removal

ok I was cruising alond with the install cowl off window trim off everything going smooth up until I tried to remove the actual windshield and rear hatch glass. Does anyone have a how to on this. I am trying my best not to break the glass. Also where can I buy the trim for when I install the lexan?

There is a window removal tool at Harbor Freight that worked well on ours. It takes some elbow grease, though. You have to go to the dealer to buy the trim and you will not be able to install it once you already put the glass in. Good luck!

I would price the trim at a local glass shop and the dealer before making the purchase.

Any glass or body shop that does windshield replacement should be able to get the moldings.

I had a glass shop here install a new windshield and molding for 160 bucks. I would think a glass shop can do a little better than 175.

I have seen some using a small cable and saw it back and forth around the glass work good.
What is the weight savings on the front windshield?

piano wire works great for the removal. you get it through the glue and have a buddy hold the other end and just saw it back and fourth. just be sure to wear gloves or it will cut your hand as good as it cuts the glue.

Default Back glass

You should be aware that the rear glass has 2 lines of adhesive at the top, several inches apart from each other, which makes it a little harder than most. I paid a professional to do mine because of this and also so that I have the whole front glass to compare for size and pattern because the front was not a drop in. The guy worked pretty hard at it for about an hour (we were bs'n about cars also). The hour included removing the front, rear and one of the side glass pieces also. He probably took a little longer and was a little more careful than usual since there was nothing wrong with any of my glass and he knew that I wanted to use it as a pattern for the side and front. The tech. used a couple of different length draw type knives, a reciprocating saw with a paddle on the end instead of a saw blade (at the bottom on the front from the inside) and a wire on the second line of adhesive at the top of the rear glass.

After watching the tech. do the job, I'd still pay someone to do it.
