Default cowl reinforcement?

i have a ls camaro that i have cut the cowl in the center for clearance for a sheetmetal intake. should i reinforce the cowl around the cut area for extra support for the windsheild? the cut is 10" wide 9" deep on the lower portion and 8" to 5" wide on the upper portion up to the windsheild.

Just block it off with some spare sheetmetal. If nothing else, It'll clean it up. I don't think it's needed, but it's not going to hurt.

sweet. that is what i was planning, but didnt know if i needed to add any supports with small round bar. the only windsheild issues that i could find were big block cars with the whole cowl removed.

I cut mine out all the way across, about 1 inch in front of the windshield. I then trimmed it straight back to the firewall. I fabbed up some ribs that I welded inside before I closed it up.
I would weld a rib on either side of where you cut then weld in a floor. This will box it back in and give it some strength back.

thanks for the advise. i have been thinking of cutting it all the way across as long as i find the right hood. otherwise i wanted to leave something on the sides for the stock plastic to attach.
