Default Crane Cams doors closed

Well, I was over at the Moparts.com site, and a vendor for Crane posted that Crane has officially closed their doors. There are a few investors that are trying to make the purchase, but nothing is worked out yet. So, the time being, doors are closed.

This may or may not be new news to you guys, since I had heard a couple months ago that they were trying to stay open, but did not think they were going to be able to. So, another company gone....hope our economy gets straightened out in a hurry

Yep, I got a call last night and have a meeting soon with some folks about the closure and potential future. I had heard it was coming about a month ago and sure enough.

no wonder why I haven't received any NMCA contingency money from them, dated back to September and October.

well that's a crying shame, hurts to see one of the fabled suppliers from hot rodding's golden age go under.

Why would they re-name the join though? With a name like Crane I figure it would make sense to keep the name.

lol, all the stickers came off the night the NMCA/LSX shootout finished. Car was put back into "street" mode. I feel like such a RiceBoy when I drive the car on the street all stickered up.

Damn that's a shame. I've had great luck with their cams, wonder what direction the new owners will take...

Here is a link to an article dated today.

My understanding is that there is going to be an auction for the equipment and such, so I think Crane may just go away.

Yeah, like I mentioned, there were some potential investors that were going to try and keep the company under teh Crane banner, but could not get teh loan sorted out (or something to that affect).

Yeah, my machine shop had a guy that he worked with for like the last 20 years or something, and he had mentioned to him about 2 months ago that something was going on. My guy really liked the Crane lifters, and I believe he wanted to go that route with my motor, but he held off until he knew for sure what was going on, so now we know.
Yeah, I hope this is not a trend, but everyone is feeling it. Hopefully Obama can get this economy going, and I really believe he is taking alot of teh right steps in doing so.
Not to bring poilitcs up, but I was watching last night, that he was cutting funding to the fleet of Helicopters that are built for the President. He made a joke, and was like "The Helicopter I ride in now is just fine. Now, this is my FIRST Helicopter, but is does seem to be just fine to me." Anyways, the point he was making was like, the Taxpayers are responsible for the $6 BILLION we spend on Helicopters, and we have a fleet already, so why do we need more?

Neither have I but, at $ 150 each to win and $ 75 to runner up, its a nice little bonus. Last year I had 7 stickers (you have to have their product on you car), I won once and was runner up twice total of $ 1800 in my pocket, cause Crane Cams never paid me.
