Default First time on M/T ET Streets

O.K. this is my first time at the track on M/T ET streets. 275/40/17's, M6. Question is how much air pressure in the tires and how many RPM's do I launch at? Suspension mods in my sig, rear is 9" w/3.89 gears. Motor is stock. Should I do a burn out in 1st or 2nd gear? BTW the last time I launched a car on slicks it was a 1971 Boss 351 Stang w/4.57 gears and M.T. slicks, don't remember what size (it was in 1971) best time with that car was 12.20 @110. It had a Sig Erson cam and Hooker Headers and was a blast to drive.

Every thing is going to be trial and error...start out at 20psi cold on the tires. Try launching at 4k of it bogs try 5k.

I'm guessing radials since its a 275/40 not 26x11.5. I have the same rear and gear. I ran the time in my sig with 20psi cold and close to a 4 grand quick release of the clutch. And I have alot to learn with a manual tranny too.

radials and 6spd are a no no.... Probably wont be able to get a high RPM launch, I could never get ET street radials to hook worth a damn anything past 3k and thats still not spectacular...1.8s are best. Get some 15s and put true ET streets on there then let her rip at whatever.

Whaaaaat. He has a stock engine, should be able to hook fine on a drag radial. I prefer a smaller wheel with more sidewall but i still run a radial. 1.6-1.7's with a M6.

2nd gear burnout, 20 psi in the tires. Takes more practice on a drag radial to launch it....but once u get it down they are a good tire that hooks well. Try quick release of the clutch at 4k rpms as the RPM's are increasing. If it bogs go higher R's. Work your way up.. once your RPM's are 5k or more if u bog add some tire pressure(small amounts). Document your success with a log book and keep track of the changes u have made. These tires do hook. Once u have the technique those tires are good for an EASY 1.7 60ft. Good luck!

I'm running 255/50/16 Hoosier DRs @ 17 lbs., this is on a 100 shot, i managed a 1.80 leaving @ 2500, next outing i'll try 3000, then 3500, i'm sure it'll get in the low 1.7s, maybe 1.6s, & this is on the bottle, you know what that does, with practice, you'll get in the 1.7s.

need to burnout in 2nd gear. its going to be easier on the tranny and the rest of the drivetrain.
1st only usually wont get enough speed to get heat in the tires and shifting into 2nd is just going to strain the drivetrain for no reason, IMO.

My full weight car spun my ET Streets on the rims when I took it out last fall

Had to screw my Bogart rims, but I can't wait to try it this spring!

First time out on a ET street I ripped a 1.60 60ft with stock suspension. If you can get them to work awsome..and thats not sarcastic either. I couldnt get them work worth a damn for my car though.

And cutting a 1.50 on Radials with a 6spd is extremely impressive.

I had trouble with my 28"s shaking at 16psi, worked great 18-19 psi. Haven't been out on the street setup yet.

ET Street Radials. Thanks guys, can't wait for it to warm up so I can get out and see what she'll do. I went 13.5 @105 showroom stock. With the tires and suspension I'm hoping to get in the 12's.

Depends on track prep IMO. I couldnt hook for **** last fri, leaving at 4k on a 275/50-15 ET radial. 1.89 was my best 60ft. Car spun first few gears

I have been following this thread now for the past 2 weeks. Last week I was all set to get these tires and go to the track and, go figure, my clutch starts slipping. Well I took it to the track anyway this past Saturday and launched at 3K and I got a 1.9 60' spinning and a 7.9 in the 1/8th on 315 Vredesteins and a clutch that was giving up in 3rd and 4th. Hopefully I can get down to a 1.7 60' and a 7.0 in the 1/8th with these 275 E.T. streets

i was running 275/60/15's mt et radials with 15 -16 lbs depending on the track ...an ave low 1.5's coming out at 5500 , the 17's are not set up to go good 60's with a 6spd ....but the thing to remember with a 6spd a lot of seat time till you get it dialed in and a bias ply will be better in the long run
