sucks for him. they didnt even really look at my car. walked around the car and then signed the tech card. sure i was running dialed in at 11.70, but that could have atleast opened the hood or a door .

its only a matter of time before NHRA/IHRA steps in and shuts his show down for good. we talked to a guy at the track that day that said that tech would not pass his car because the cage was not right. the guy then talked to a speed channel guy, and the guy told him "run it all out". he ran his car those 2 days. pretty said they would rather make a tv show then actually care about somebody's safety

Rich banned one guy for 2 years from anything he's involved with and another for life after warning about not having any antifreeze in the car. This was at Ennis a few weeks ago. They also had the class to run picked out (11.00) before hand. Other than that Tech is up to track and does take a while. I know of a guy that teched for 10.00 but ran 9.80 with no license or certification, so after tech its pretty relaxed.

As far as the antifreeze goes, it is in IHRA and NHRA rules books as being prohibited. Most local tracks frown on it, but dont enforce it. They will and do at national events. Just so happens at pinks, the two involved leaked on track and thats how it was noticed. Kinda of funny that after the announcement of the bans, everyone rushed to the water spickets to drain all their antifreeze out and put in water.

Same here. I am not running straight water in my street car. If you have a pile of **** that is going to blow up or leak everywhere you probably shouldn't be running anyway.

Yea it seems they are getting very strict on making sure the car follows NHRA rules. The anti-freeze vs. water deal is simply for clean up purposes. Its soooo easy to clean up water, not so much for anti-freeze. I guess it would only be a problem if you had a leak or wreck...

I've been to three all outs, except for rockingham checking the anti-freeze no one has even looked at my car or asked for a comp license and it was a low 9 second car.

Pinks has nothing to do with tech, they take your picture and you sign a paper that even if they are negligent you wont sue them and thats as far it goes for them. Its a TV show and NOT a race sanctioning organization. 100% of that falls on the track staff and NHRA/IHRA rulebooks. Maybe a couple guys were helping out with teching cars at an event but the final authority is with the dragstrip staff.

I have seen a ton of cars that shouldnt be going down a dragstrip at all-outs, the antifreeze thing is a bitch to clean up and its a 'rule' that is seldom enforced (or checked) at normal races. A show like pinks where 8/10 of the cars are leakers its not a bad idea, they should also check for rubber trans cooler lines with hose clamps and that would eliminate about 80% of the down time i have seen myself

I am competing in the April Pinks All Out event in Charlotte at the end of this month. I just got an email from the track on behalf of Pinks, it states that all cars must have proper safety equipment for the et the car is running, but you are not required to have the NHRA competition license. Mine is 8.50 certified. Woo-hoo.

Seems to be hit and miss here on safety enforcement. Guess I'd check with the track or take your chances.

Back in around 2003, when I raced up at LVD (Lebenon Valley Dragway in NY). I had a buddy running a 95 camaro 396 with nitrous. on a 150 shot he went 11.25 @ 125mph. No roll cage what so ever. Conducted multiple runs and never a stone broke about it. The someone else running fast in the 1/8th and shutting down.

All depends on the track.

We were at the race in Rockingham that weekend and it was so damn cold there was no way we were taking the antifreeze out of our car. We didnt and we were never checked. Isnt that strange.
