Default Lower Radiator Support removal

I'm in the process of de-rusting my chassis and my lower radiator support is pretty beat up and rusty. Instead of going through all the work I'm looking for other options.

Have any of you guys removed the lower support completely and installed something different to mount the radiator and fans? I'm switching to a vertical radiator and the upper support is all ready cut and set.

I'm looking for as many pictures as possible.

Any info is much appreciated.

Thanks,

~Jim~

I have done this. It really cleans up the engine bay considerably. I just cut it out flush at the frame rail, and then welded in new mounting plates to the bottom of the frame rail where i planned on mounting the new radiator. Then we just bought some straight CM tubing(not positive on the size), bent it up to match our hole, and welded it into place.

Do you have any pictures you can post or send to me?
