Default need to pass tech for LSX shootout

Hey guys, im trying to get my car ready for the shootout in memphis and i need to know what all i will have to have. My car has a roll bar in it now but i will be adding door bars before i go. It has a Th350 w/ a blanket but if you look under the car you can see the flexplate so what kind of sheild will i need and which one fits the best. The car should run high 9's or around 10. 0's on gas. I have a drive shaft saftey loop and the rear has the 5/8 studs so i think im good there. I also have the 5 point harness but i havent checked the dates on them. what else will i need? Thanks

Id grab a NHRA rule book and put in what is required for the fastest time you expect.

thanks dude. i just looked at the CSR sheild in summit and it looks nice, is that all i will need for the tranny?

Most times yes, as long as you can get the SFI rating and the # associated. From what I have learned, get all those numbers or cars and have it written clearly on a sheet of paper, even Laminated and keep it with you. The Tech guys appreciate people being prepared and to pick over the car less.

Does the CSR sheild cover for the bell housing?? That is also a cause for concern, again depending on ET and MPH. I went on summit and had a whole mess of different styles

thanks for your time. Im pretty sure the car will run around the 10.0 mark so thats what im shooting for.

CSR shield covers the whole tranny and takes care of that, that's what I have on my car.


driveshaft loop, battery shutoff if it's relocated, up to date harness, metal valve stems in the rims, long enough front and rear studs (rear's are good if you're on a 5/8 for sure) SFI approved flexplate and balancer.


That's all I can think of, I don't have the rule book in front of me but I'm sure that's 90% of it if not all of it.

Make sure your helmet is up to date too..2000 and if you are going 9s it has to be full face

Couldn't agree more. They dinged me for some pretty tick-tack stuff as well last year when we were there.

Out of date belts is the biggest BS they have going. Unless the belt has been cut or in a serious wreck it doesn't just go bad after 2 years. This is just the NHRA trying to make more money.
