When I had to make the choice, time was a factor, I didn't want much down time. I shoved a lot of money into it, still only about 50% of what something else would have cost me & it is holding up fine. By the time it makes me decide again, I won't feel that I really wasted money on fixing it once. I've never seen/heard a 12 bolt in an F-Body that would make me happy for the money they cost, so I'll have to go a different direction.

Then you must be bracket racing a 14 second car. Honstly I have seen stock ls1 cars with manual tranny's kick ring gear parts thru the back cover, on a stock car with a 1-2 powershift.

Honestly even if I was bracket racing with a 250 rwhp car I'd be uptting a real rear in the car, part of bracket racing that's important is getting the car to respond quickly at the hit, gearing plays alot with that and can help alot.

Nothing wrong with that. That's the whole point of bracket racing; you don't need to be running a fast car to have fun trying to be consistent. And it's a stock LT1 or even an auto LS1 (as we all know how much more consistent autos are for bracket racing), then why bother spending $2,000 on a rear when the stocker works just fine?

That's the thing the stock one isn't even cose to optimal. If you want dead consistancey, one thing that will help that alot is a spool, for more consistant burnouts and consistant traction, gear change to optimize the traction, suspension and power is also critical.

I know people with cars that repeat within a 1/4 tenth consistantly, at a few different power levels, this is factual info.

The more time I spend changing parts on the car; the less whiskey I can drink.

I guess I must be the last guy crazy enough to race on a 10-bolt. Just rebuilt mine with fresh gears, bearings, solid pinion spacer and a Truetrac.

The old setup lasted 320+ passes, 93,000 miles, and many, many 1.6x short times. It even had a 1.57 on it ( on Nittos, btw )

I hope this new setup will hold into the 10's. I'll get the nitrous on the car and find out in a few months now that the money is flowing again.

Chris, care to wager whether or not I can cut a 1.37 on mine?
