Default 10 bolt

Is there any way to beef up my 10 bolt to take a hard launch on some sticky tires?

No. This has been beaten to death, stock power with a M6 with a drag radial is enough to kill a 10 bolt. They're good for the 4 cyl S10 that they were originally made for, and not much more.

hahaha, thanks! I guess I will be looking into the most cost effective way to go about getting a new rear end that will hold up.

Any suggestions?

Moser & Strange offer "bolt-in" rears, I went with the Moser 9", Plan to spend around $2k unless you can find something used.

Please do not attempt to "beef up" your 10 bolt, it is a complete waste of time and money. I "beefed up" 4 10 bolts before I saw the light and bought a real rear end. I could have bought at least 3 9" rears with the amount of money I threw away on 10 bolts.

If you're looking to make a purchase at the end of the year I "might" be pulling the 12 bolt out of my car and going with a narrowed 9 inch. Probably won't be until the end of the year by the time I get around to making that purchase, so when you're ready shoot me a PM and see where I'm at.

12 bolt, 3.73, spool, 33 sp. axles. No stock backing plates or reluctor rings on it, but you could pull that stuff off your 10 bolt and put it on, I used to have all that on this rear end before I put the spool and drag brakes on the car.

Prayer and abstinence LOL

Seriously ... start saving for a 12bolt, 9" or S60.
Your goal is to replace it before you break it and oil the track down. (eating 20-40 min of everyone's time while they clean it up).
Then sell the used 10bolt to someone who doesn't want to listen.

I won't me ready to pull it until probably christmas time, when I am I'll shoot ya a PM.

My guess is that the guys that are looking now will already have something and it will be a whole new group looking for a rear LOL. 10 bolts don't last long once you start making power, or start trying to leave hard with a real tire.

Seems the bulk of members here have a lot more common sense . When I built my 85 GP a large number of that crowd insisted that the 7.5 would live well into the 10's.

Only thing saving him has been the auto (STILL on borrowed time, though ). Definitely start saving for a better rear. I personally wouldn't go with a 12-bolt again unless you happen to find a good one that doesn't clunk or whine like just about every one I've seen; but they are out there, just not many of them.
