Default how to launch with radials and moser 12?

i've got a 2000 formula, mostly stock. mti lid, no catback, mcleod twin. i went 13.0 at 108 with a full tank. 1.99 60' it was my first week with the car and i was launching by slipping the clutch to prevent wheelspin. tires were 275/40/17 raptors.

i just bought a 99 formula with a moser 12 bolt with 4.10s. M6 with Z06 clutch. its got full boltons. i'm just wondering how i should be launching this car? i've got a set of nitto 555r and mt et street radials, both in 275/40/17. i know i can be much more aggressive, i just don't want to ruin the clutch or break the rear(if possible)

i go to atco raceway in nj. which is normally a very well prepped track. what rpms should i be launching at? should i preload? dump, release or slip the clutch?

thanks for any advice guys

5k side step that bitch. dont bother with the nitto's, just put the et's on get them hot and dump that bitch. my buddy has a 9" with hoosier's on it, n/a with stock gears. he has a text. clutch, but he side steps it about 5k and cuts 1.6 all day.

i'm worried about the clutch tho. i guess i'll just start at 3k and work my way up. the nittos are gonna be my street tires. the et's i'm gonna use just at the track

Yup, 5 or 6k dumps on some ET street bias ply, if the clutch doesn't smoke, you'll go. If you don't, well that's the weak point. This ET streets, not the radial, are badass!

here is some advice.

Drag radials at a certain power level, which is useually Cam only 380-420 rwhp, tends to become an On/Off switch when launched properly. Which is about 5k and dumping it. M/T tend to do better then the rest but they are just the same in that aspect.

At your power level, with a LINE LOCK, you should be having zero issues launching. A good burnout, 5k dump and good shifting netted me 1.7/1.8 60 foot all day on a car that made 325 rwhp and was over 4k race weight.

When you step up in power, your going to notice the inadquecies(sp), of the tire/suspension combonation and your going to be having to improve that as well.

Just wanted to report back. Do not do a big smokey burn out with DRs. Went to the track this past weekend. Big smokey 2nd gear burnouts hurt my 60' time.
