Default Help with 6speed bog..

The last time I had my car out at the track, leaving at 5k on the two step I would dump the clutch the car would take off, (video of the car has the wheels about 2inches off the ground) and then the car would just bogg awful.
I am in the process of doing my H/C swap, and while its down i am considering something. I am running on mt et streets, 26 inches tall, If I swap my gear from the 3.75 that is in it now to a 4.11 do you think this would help with the bog, all my cars before have been automatics, I think this bog is killing my time, especially on the 60 ft.
My setup before was just bolt-ons, with a frost tune, rebuilt trans by sixspeeds inc, and a ford 9" with the 3.75s I also shot the car with a 120 shot, the best time I got was a 7.76 with a 1.76 60ft. I have qa1 adj, on the back, and strange adj on the front with sfc, and tubular lcas, the lca brackets, So I have the suspension for the track, and when the motor is done Ill be ready to go back, but I would really like to eliminate this stinking bog as much as I can. Any help would be appreciated.
Oh yeah I drive the car on the street all the time(alot), so a set of 4.56 probably wont be up my alley. Surely someone has fought this fight already. I thank you for any help

Well the bog is that you need to step up your two step. six speeds are a fine line of tire spin and hook. you want some tire spin off the line 2 to 3 god hard turns that then hook. Cuz if you dont get the wheel speed it will hook move then bog. And try to stay away from the dump i do a fast slip and i am getting my 60 down just cut a 1.46 last week with a 3.89 gear and 26M/T

Leave higher and put more gear in it at least a 4.56 minimum. The first gear in a 6spd sucks 2.66.
Definatley dump the clutch as fast as you can.

I run 4.11's because I streed drive and use n.o.s. On the 26'' tire I ran 10.2@133 w/a 150 shot. On my new set up I need more tire. On the highway at 70mph I'm on 1,800rpm's and in 4th gear at 45mph I'm on 2,300-2,400 I think. So I use the overdrives alot. The 4.56 would add more rpm's to your drive, but i'm sure would be a blast. Also,I had 3.73's before the 4.11's and the 4.11's are a better match for the m6. goodluck to ya.

Cool, I drive on the street a ton myself, So I believe that I may stick with 4.11s, think a 26 inch tire is the way to go, or the 28?

Another way, might be to get the gears from a GTO tranny and have them swapped in for 1-3. That way you have the gearing you want for the track, still have 5/6 for the street like you do now. I think 1st gear with the gto tranny is like 2.97, that will do a TON to stop the bog.

We have a local guy that swapped that tranny in his car and he picked up alot.

Raron, are you just changing to a different h/c package, or are you adding a set of ported heads and aftermarket cam? In other words, were you basically stock when you had the bog problem?

Yeah, I had the stock heads and cam, with just bolt ons,Headers, LS6 intake, volant cai, and a frost tune, and a 120 shot of spray right off the line. I have the engine out of the car, putting in tsp 5.3 heads, and a custom cam specced out for my engine with these heads,I also have a ported fast 92 setup, and a UD pulley with everything needed for this swap, 42lb injectors, katech rod bolts, etc. I know that the engine is going to be putting out much more power, and I am gonna up the shot from 120 to 175, I figure if the engine setup was bogging like that it would probably worsen with the added power? Not too sure if my 3.75 ratio and 26 inch tires are what I need. I have great suspension parts, just need seat time to dial them in, but I had the bog everytime, even on my video, the car would pull the front tires about 2 inches, and the wheels would spin, and then bog. I was wondering if upping to 4.11 gears would help me out with that problem.

You have probably already considered this but I have had some luck fighting this same issue by playing with the tire pressure. Also as already stated, up the rpms on the 2 step.
