MT DR's vs MT Slicks

MT DR's vs MT Slicks Last time out I managed a 1.59 60' on 26" MT DR's. Not bad but now I am upping the power with heads/cam/intake and swapping to a 9" with 3.70 vs the 10 bolt with 3.23's. So I have been wondering how much ET or 60' I may gain if I went to a full MT 26" slick. The car isn't trailered so I would still need to drive to the track on them. With the 9" in place I don't have to worry about beating it like it owes me money 
so I have thought about selling my DR's and going full slicks. Any thoughts?

I drive my car around on ET street bias plys all the time. And there is a huge difference between the Radials and the Bias plys in a stick car
so you drive with slicks on the street? i thought you had to have at least some kind of sturdy sidewall to drive on the street? how are they on the street? you must hug on to everything
They aren't that bad to drive with on the street. You get used to it. But that comes with driving a car with no front sway bar, slicks and skinnies and a spool on the street

With current power, def radials. Since there is almost no way in hell you should be over powering the tires. With the new found power, you may find a limitation on the radials if, and I say only if you make corresponding changes to the gears and converter.
3.73's is not considered too wild and that 'verter maybe a little too tight given the cam but until you get out there, you wont know. FYI I do not see any suspension mods, so that should be considered standard as well.
Had the car carried 4.10's and a 4000-4500 9" stall then I would say slicks maybe helpful but I do not see the car going that way.
Last note, had the car been a M6 car, all the suspension and tire requirements change.

you'll do fine on the drag radials. i put down 1.47 with no anti roll bar in the rear, not even a sway bar. it now pulls better with the wolfe anti roll on the drag radials. oh and i sprayed anything from a 150-250 out of the hole.
I have ran both tires with my car that runs pretty similar times to yours. I cut a full tenth better in the 60' with the DR's over the slicks. Also, with DR's the car doesn't sway back and forth when I'm driving down the road unlike with the slicks.

Drag radials will do better than a slick or bias-ply dot slick on a similar size due to less growth in sidewall, less flex and easier top end driveability. My Nova will 60 foot .01-.03 better and mph about .5-.75 better on a 275/60/15 M/T radial versus a 28 x 10 x 15 M/T slick (although I use the slick for transbrake hard launch stuff as a safety deal since radials can be less forgiving). I have been 1.39 60 foot on the radial in a 3600 lb auto car so they do work!
