I would start out with 10psi on the driver side and 15psi on the pass side and take it from there. Without a good swaybar once you start hooking her good if you're making enough power she's gonna roll over to the pass side anyway, then it gets interesting, hehe-ask me how I know.
You get a little outta shape out of the gate just lift and go make your adjustments and come around again-cheaper that way.
Oh yes, very good day at the track and I drove her home afterward, gotta love that.

I only ordered one air-bag for the time being. I can always add another to the drivers side later if needed. Just trying to spread out the cash where it's absolutely needed if ya know what I mean.

LOL,,,, I agree that lifting is waaaay cheaper than trying to be a hero and skating it down the track sideways,,,,,, or worse. I had to abort one of my runs a couple weeks ago on the skating rink.

I see that you're running the L92 heads also. Who did your port work? Do you have any porting done to the intake manifold? I ported my own L92's, but I haven't touched the intake manifold yet.

Well the car is making more progress. I've made a shitload of changes to the car over the last 6 weeks and it looks like it's paying off at the track. Here's the changes that were made:

-Installed a used weld-in 6pt rollbar
-5pt harness
-Spohn tunnel mount adj torque arm w/DS safety loop
-Spohn adj lca's
-Custom DIY Weld-in SFC's
-PS rear airbag
-Custom DIY 3" true-dual exhaust

Settings:
-Torque arm is at -1.0 (driveshaft method)
-LCA at -2.5 (bottom hole on reloc brackets)
-CE rear shocks at middle setting 50/50
-Airbag 11psi
-14psi Tire pressure (15-10.50 ET Street Bias)
-Launch RPM 4200-4400 (anything more was major tire spin)
-Not sure what DA was, but it was hot (90deg) and muggy.

Last night was the first night out with the car since making the changes above. Track prep was non-existent but the changes made were still helping the car 60' better and I got a new personal best ET/MPH out of the car. Here are the four best passes of the night. I had several aborted runs before these last four hot-laps all within about 35 minutes of eachother. The Monster clutch held up great without a hint of clutch smell.

11.302 @ 124.74 - 60' = 1.76 (best et/mph so far)
11.304 @ 124.58 - 60' = 1.74 (bumped rev limiter)
11.329 @124.61 - 60' = 1.75
11.349 @ 124.70 60' = 1.80 (spun hard)

My question is, what should I try next? I tried the airbag at 15psi and spun hard and it kicked the ***-end out sideways. Then tried 11psi which seemed to work ok with a good straight launch. I only made one change to tire pressure from 16psi to 14psi and that helped too. I don't think this track is going to prep it very much for the rest of the late night drags this year, so I'm thinking about putting the CE shocks at the stiffest setting?

Any other suggestions or advice would be great. I'll have some vids up probably Sunday night. I borrowed a vid cam but didn't get the cables so I'll have to wait to upload them.

Mike

ps I'm really,,, really wanting a 2-step.......... lol.

Wow Mike you really need to 60' that thing.

2 things that really stand out to me

1 - Bilstiens up front - They are great shocks but they don't transfer with a damn.
2 - Air bags - the only time I've had them help was on my T-type (which had an open rear - 1.70 60') I'd try a drag bar if you've got the $ - and can stand the clunking.

It'd be interesting to see your video - from the picture it looks like the rear might be squatting.

I wish I had the cash to invest in some drag shocks for the front. Cash is limited so I needed to put it where it counts the most, which was in the rear suspension and rollbar.

That picture above is from the previous round of mods. The car is lowered quite a bit so that's probably what you're seeing. Speaking of lowering, would raising the front of the torque arm mount location help out since it's lowered? I have a Spohn tunnel mount t/a, but I could fabricate a couple new rotater plates to move the front of the arm further upward.

My next time at the track I'm going to try it with no air in the bag at all and see if it's helping at all. I ran out of time yesterday or would have tried it.

In the mean time, I'm trying to get the cable for the vid camera to upload the vids.

did it help when u changed the reloc. brackets to the middle hole. Im having a problem w/traction as well.Im a full bolt on car w/an adjustable TA and im spinning on my 315 MT et streets. Something is up with my rear suspension so just wanna get your opinion since u have made a good improvement on your setup. mods in sig

I didn't even take the car to the track with them in the middle hole. After I measured the angle, it wasn't good so I put it back to the bottom hole. My car is lowered quite a bit. I actually could use a setting in-between the middle and bottom hole on the relocation bracket. I wish one of the vendors (BMR, Spohn, UMI, Madman, Wolfe etc...) made a concentric (offset) type bolt for the lca that you could use to really dial-in the lca angle. Of course you would only be able to use it with adjustable length lca's. I'm surprised nobody has made something like that before but that's the engineer side of me talking and maybe there's a reason it hasn't been developed yet.

My buddy with a stock suspension 04 GTO was cutting a 1.7 60' with 255/50/16 ET streets (6 speed). He used to do his burnout in 1st gear but he switched to a 2nd gear burnout and he has hit a best of 1.51 60'. He runs around 14 psi. I think track prep is going to be make a huge difference also. Our track does not prep at all for friday night drags, but on the weekend events it is always a ton better for the big hp cars.

It is interesting that PIR was open this weekend. I looked up their schedule and it appeared they had no racing for all of September but a few races in October.

Where do you race at? There were two newer GTO's racing at PIR last Friday, as well as a couple C5's and one had a maggie on it. I used to do my burnouts in 1st and then quickly shift to 2nd. Now I just start it out in 2nd gear, do about 3-4 seconds of high revs, roll it out and let off the throttle until the tires hook and grab.

I think PIR runs late night drags all the way through October. The schedule should be on their website. Also, they have live streaming video of the late night drags on their website too lol.... If you make it over this way, shoot me a pm.

Well I spent some time reading that big long thread about "instant center" and torque arms and I now realize what my biggest traction problem is. Because my car is lowered so much, it's basically pointing the t/a into the ground, putting my IC around the bottom middle of the car. That's causing the suspension to hit the tires too hard, then unloading right away. Now I just need to figure out how to raise the front of the Sphon tunnel mounted t/a and how much I'll need to raise it. I'll probably fabricate some new rotator plates with holes located farther upward. Which leads me to another question, does the distance I move the front of the arm upward correlate directly to how much the car is lowered? For instance, if the car is lowered 1.5", should the new front t/a location be 1.5" up?

Here is that thread I read about instant center. Page 2 has alot of detailed suspension talk that cleared up alot of things for me. https://ls1tech.com/forums/advanced-...nt-center.html
