Weighed My Pig of a Trans Am Today....
my car was a pig as well....but the engine was out this last winter and lets just say I pulled alot of weight out...what ive weighed adds up to right around 400lbs...and i still lack a few things such as seats passenger and rear"will come out on race day" rear bumper support, door speakers and wiring, side impact bars"debating on this",and the front sway bar...it was alot of work but i think come track time it will be worth it.....
That is the stuff that really drops the weight... The little stuff helps but does not do as much as people think....
Even the A/C does not weigh all that much.... unless you have a third gen haha... but the HVAC box and the entire A/C system adds up....
Some wheels out there are HEAVY also....... IE the LT1 forumla wheels.....
Drag breaks help a bunch but not great idea for street cars....... you can only do so much untill you start to make it a lot less streetable......

But got damn considering some of the weight i have taken out of the car, it is a P I G!!!!!!!!!
W/O me in the car it came in at 3440
With me in the car it came in at 3640
Driver (me) is 200 lbs on the dot
So i would say i had prolly about 14-15 gallons of fuel, which is about 93 lbs.
Now here is what has been taken out of the car:
Rear Bumper Support - 19.2 lbs
Spare Tire and Jack - 37 lbs
A.I.R. Pump - 6 lbs
Cross Member Brace - 2 lbs
Stock Trans Am Hood, Replaced W/VFN Hood - 27 lbs
No EGR - 15 lbs
I say when i go to the track and i put on my 16" rims and tires, take out my floor mats (6 lbs), T-Top Flappy thing (5lbs), passeger leather seat (32lbs), rear leather seats (28 lbs) and run 1/4 tank of gas (+18 lbs) i think my car shoudl weigh in at 3465
What do you all think? Sound reasonable?????

Our cars weigh exactly the same lol (with drivers that is, mine is around 3475 w/o me in it ....This is mainly what ive done to save weight
spare tire and jack
air pump
egr
tunnel brace
pacesetter longtubes w/TSP TD's (i was told this system was lighter than most CB systems)
I also run Corvette replica Y2k's on 275 Kumhos all the way around
I also had a lightweight battery i ran up front as well an i got it down to 3600 with me in it but it didnt have the amps for the colder weather so i put my old one back in.
