There is a shop that does vinly wraps close to where I live and he told me it cost over 2000 to have a car fully wrapped. Thats about the price of a good paint job though.

that's the 1st pic Ive seen of a wrap on a 4th gen that i really liked. i looked in to them for a while but i decided that it wasn't really the look i was going for although if i didn't dive the car as much or if it was a drag car it def might be something id consider. prices seem to be around 2 to 3k and a quality warp should last at least 7 years. From what i read there is some weight to be saved over a traditional paint job also

The car needs the body work done and a color sprayed ( most people do white), before you apply the wrap so in the end its actualy heavier. I'm sure people have tried to do it with out it, but I think it would be a waste of 2-3K if the body isn't straight first.

Another problem with wraps is most have a semi-gloss type finish. Sticker Dude does do some very nice glossy ones however.

If you do a full wrap, it will look good from 20ft, but up close you can see all the edges of the sticker where everything overlaps on the 4 corners of the car.

I've seen some very nice work rolling around town (mostly on company pickups and vans).
Then I inquired about the price ... ouch.
They do look amazing when done right though.

I'm trying to figure out at this kind of cost whether I would like to have the car painted or wrapped.

i cant make up my mind between a wrap and a paint job.. you would think the wrap would be less expensive.... that would make the decision a no brainer.

The prices for a complete vinal job on a car, truck or van range from 1500-3000 depending on the scheme. You guys are saying that you can get a nice paint job for 2K???? I ve seen shops that do piant jobs for 2 grand, and they are absolute ****. For that money you can get a single color paint job possibly, giving that you want your car sprayed the same color, with no jam work, or underhood painting, maybe. But the finish will be ****. Anything that is vinal can be airbrushed onto a car, and we use vinal to do layouts for the airbrushing. Paint is always the way to go hands down. Even on a drag car.

There are many designs that can be created in Photoshop & Illustrator that can't be replicated with an airbrush. That is a main reason for the appeal of vinyl wraps.

I'd much rather have paint, but vinyl opens the doors to much more graphic creativity.
